  Ghosts from the Past

Elizabeth Monroe pulled up to the VA Hospital in Westwood, California. She hadn't seen Captain H.M. Murdock since she left Vietnam. It was one day before H.Q. would be destroyed by the NVA. Colonel Samuel Morrison had informed Lieutenant Elizabeth Monroe, she would be going back to the states. That her services were no longer needed by Colonel Smith. She remembered running to the chopper pad, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Murdock! Murdock!"

He turned around to see Liz running at full steam towards him. She jumped into his arms almost knocking him to the ground.

"Hey baby, what's the matter?"

"Colonel Morrison just told me I'm going back to the states and that Hannibal no longer needs my services."

"WHAT!"

"I leave for the states tomorrow mornin'."

'Tomorrow mornin'?

"Yeah! I thought I was goin' on a mission with you guys." She sobbed.

"So did I. We better go talk to Hannibal."

Liz knew Hannibal would have told her himself if he didn't need her, or want her to go a mission with them. To her, he was the only father figure in her life. She looked up to the Colonel.

"DAMN you Colonel Morrison!" she said as she slammed her hand on the steering wheel. She looked up as she heard a car door shut beside her. A handsome blonde haired man was getting out of a white Corvette with a red stripe to accent it. She looked at him as if she had known him from somewhere, someplace.

'Where have I seen him before."

Then it occurred to her. It was someone she cared a lot for in her past.

"Oh my God! FACE!" She said.

She quickly got out of the car and yelled his name.

"Lieutenant Templeton Peck!"

Templeton 'Faceman' Peck froze in mid walk as he heard a woman's voice call out to him.

"I know that voice." He thought.

He turned around and stared at the beautiful woman in disbelief.

"Elizabeth Monroe." He called back.

They started walking toward each other. They embraced one in other for what seemed like an eternity.

"Liz! I can't believe it's you." He put his hand on her cheek.

"It's been ten years Face. Why didn't you get in contact with me?"

"Well, it was complicated. Being on the run from the government, and the military constantly on our trail. It hasn't exactly been a picnic."

"Yes I know. I followed every newspaper article written about you guys. And you can probably guess who's been followin' me round like a lost puppy."

"Hmm...would it happen to be our old friend Colonel Decker?"

"Yup. He told me if I helped him capture the A-Team, it would be to my advantage. I told him I haven't had contact with any of you since 'Nam, and if I had, I wouldn't do it anyway."

"Smart girl. If I may ask, what are you doing here at the VA?"

"I heard that Murdock had been committed because he snapped. And I wanted to make sure everything I heard was true. They say you guys are just a myth."

Face sighed. "Yes, it's true. All the pressure had built up. And when it exploded, he cracked. But that doesn't explain why you are here."

"I came back to see Murdock, because I still love him Face. I never got over him."

"To tell you the truth, he thought you were dead. We ALL thought you were dead."

"What do you mean dead?"

"Lynch had paid a visit to Murdock and gave him your dog tags. He said you had been killed in a plane crash coming back to the states."

"WHAT? Well he's obviously mistaken. I'm alive and well. But there WAS a crash. I wasn't on THAT plane. Me and a few others who were on it, had been transferred to a different one, because of mechanical difficulty. It went through all kinds of repairs before it took off. It crashed somewhere in Canada or somethin' like that. As for the tags, I musta lost them. I never realized they were missin'. Jesus Temp. I wish I would have contacted you earlier."

"Listen to me, the good thing is, you're here now. And we have never forgotten you. Hannibal said you would always be part of the team. No matter what happened."

"Uh.... Temp...why are you dressed like a doctor?"

"I have to spring Murdock from the VA."

"Ah...Ok well Dr. Peck, if you would please go get your patient so that I can see him...that would be great." She flashed him a smile.

"You want to help me scam him out?"

"Nah. I'll wait here."

"OK be back soon."

Face kissed her cheek and took off towards the VA building."

"Oh God! They thought I was dead." Liz said aloud. Why in the hell would Lynch tell them I was dead. Doesn't make any sense.

Liz thought about the first time she had met the pilot. He was to take her to her unit that was stationed in Da Nang.

"Murdock, I hear my unit is stationed in Da Nang."

"Correction our unit. And yes we are headed for Da Nang."

"You mean, you're stationed in the same unit?"

"Is that a bad thing? I mean I don't have cooties or anything."

"No, no. I didn't mean it like that."

"Oh ok. So that mean I don't have transfer out?"

"No you don't have to transfer out."

Liz smiled as she remembered the conversation. She heard two men talking in a distance. She turned around and saw Murdock after ten long years. Face was telling him he had a BIG surprise for him.

"Come on Murdock. Could you hurry it up a little?"

"Sorry Faceyman. I think somethin' is wrong with Billy. He won't budge. "

"Well pick him up and let's go."

"Come here Billy...s'ok."

"I have a surprise for you. A BIG surprise."

"A surprise? For lil ole Murdock? You shouldn't have."

"Actually I didn't. I just stumbled upon it....and I mean that literally."

"Well where is it Facey? I wanna see it. Is it something for Billy?"

Face was getting annoyed at how hyped up Murdock was. What he really thought about is how he would handle Elizabeth being alive.

"No Murdock. But I want you to close your eyes because its...ah...well...it's a shocking surprise."

"OK"

Face guided Murdock to where Liz was standing. She felt her heart stop. The butterflies flitted in her stomach. She wondered how he would react when he saw her.

"Ok. Are you ready?"

"Yup yup Facial One."

"Alright open your eyes."

The lanky pilots smile turned into a shocked expression.

"L...Liz."

"YOU know, if ya keep your mouth open like that H.M, you'll start to catch flies."

"Face quick, pinch me. Is this a dream? Because if it is.... It's a cruel one."

"Murdock! It's no dream. Liz is alive."

He pulled Liz to him and started to sob. She felt him hold onto her tightly, as if his life depended on it. She could feel the tears burning in her eyes.

"Oh baby! I can't believe it's really you. I though you were dead."

"I know. But I'm here with you now."

"But Colonel Lynch told me....."

"Well Lynch told you wrong."

"But he gave...he gave me your dog tags." He took the tags from underneath his shirt. "I haven't taken them off for ten years."

"Guys this is all very nice with the reunion and all, but I really think we should get out of here, before we draw attention to ourselves."

"Liz are you coming with us?"

"Now that was a dumb question Face. Just let me grab my stuff."

She went over to her car and got grabbed her overnight bag and purse. She had seen Face give Murdock a screwdriver so he could take off her license plate."

"Uhhh.. Temp?"

"Well, you never can be too careful. Especially with Decker lurking around here."

Liz nodded as he put her stuff in the trunk. She walked over to the passenger side of the Vette. But before she could get in, Murdock caught her arm and pulled her to him.

"I missed you so much muchacha. I never thought I'd see you again. He kissed her gently.

"Murdock! We've got to go!"

"Alright Facey! Sheesh."

He opened the door and got in the back seat. Liz climbed into the front seat and carefully shut the door.

"Finally! Someone who knows how to shut a car door the proper way."

"Faceman, ya need a bigger car. I'm squished like a sardine back here."

"Complain, complain."

"Uh Face, if I remember, you're the KING of complainin'."

"Gee thanks Liz." He sighed and drove away from the VA.

Hannibal paced the beach house wondering what was taking Face so long.

"Don't worry man. Face'll be here."

"He knows I hate it when he's late. Especially with Decker in the area. I'll give him 15 minutes."

"No need to Colonel. He just pulled in. But crazy man ain't in the front seat."

"Well if it's not Murdock, then who is it?"

"Dunno."

Finally after minutes of waiting, Face, Murdock and Liz emerged through the door. H.M. had given her his blue baseball cap to hide her hair. They knew all too well what BA and Hannibal's reaction would be. She walked behind Murdock with her head down.

"You're late Lieutenant. You know I hate when you're late."

"Yeah man. Somethin' coulda happened to you and that crazy fool."

"On the contrary BA, something DID happen."

"What?"

"You want to introduce me to your friend Face."

"Sure." He motioned for Liz to come forward.

Liz stepped up to Hannibal and saluted. Something was very familiar about his woman who stood in front of him. But he couldn't put his finger on it. He looked at BA and knew he was thinking the same thing. She took the hat off and shook out her hair. The Colonel and BA took double takes. They were too shocked for words. The big guy stood frozen as if he had been under a spell.

"Well Colonel?"

Hannibal shook out of his state of shock and hugged Liz.

"I don't believe it. Lieutenant Elizabeth Monroe. Good to see ya kid."

"At your service Colonel."

He broke the embrace and looked in her blue eyes. She saw the questions arising in him. Wanting to know how this was possible.

"Hannibal, I had no idea that Lynch told everyone I was dead. It was all a lie."

"I never betta meet that sucka. He the one that's gonna be dead."

Hannibal took out a cigar and lit it up.

'Facey, can I have your keys to get Lizzy's stuff out of the trunk?"

"Sure Murdock. Just BE CAREFUL not to slam the trunk huh?"

"No problemo muchacho." Murdock said as he took the keys and went out the door.

"How did you meet up with Face Lieutenant?" He said as he took a long drag off his cigar.

"Been a LONG time since I've been called lieutenant."

"Get used to it. He likes to pull rank on us."

She looked at Face and shook her head.

"WELL...I went to the VA to see Murdock. I was sittin' in my car and when I looked up and saw Face. I wasn't sure at first. I thought it might've been a dead ringer. I got out of my car.. And called his name. Sure enough he turned around and it was him. He hasn't changed a bit."

Hannibal took another puff of his cigar.

"Do you know if you were followed by anyone going to the VA?"

"No. I kept a close eye, while making my trip to LA. Cuz Decker HAS tailed me before."

"DECKER! Awww...Hannibal." BA said.

"Speaking of, Decker tried to get her to cooperate with him in capturing us."

"Oh? How did THAT come about?"

"Well one day, Decker decided to show up at my house and push his way in. He ransacked it from top to bottom. It looked like a damned tornado went through it. After they were done, Decker had told me, it would be to my best advantage to help him capture the A-Team. I refused and he got mad. Right before he left he said, "This isn't over Lieutenant Monroe. I will find Smith and his men."

Hannibal chuckled whilst his cigar was clenched between his teeth.

"Don't ya love it? Decker thinks he won a lost battle. He definitely needs to get a different line though."

"Hannibal. This isn't good. If Decker was tailing Liz, what's to say he isn't now. It could get REAL hairy. It's bad enough he's on ours."

"Yeah Hannibal! Faceman's right. Liz made contact with us. They'll be on to her like anythin"

"Well guys, she'll have to stick with us for the time being. You think you can handle that Lieutenant?"

Liz had a solemn look on her face. She knew if she stuck with the guys she'd be an accessory and on the run as well. She had no family, no life. Nothing to go back to. Remembering how much she missed the guys after she left 'Nam. Finally finding them after 10 years, there was no way she wanted to lose them again.

"Yeah Colonel I can handle that. It'll give me time to catch up with y'all."

"Ah Colonel...what about Amy? You know how jealous she can be. Especially if another woman is involved."

"Amy? Who's Amy?" Liz said.

"She will just have to deal with it Face. Lieutenant Monroe was part of the team way before she even came into the picture."

"That's right. Lil Mama always part of the team."

"Don't worry guys. Gives us the upper hand now that she's back with us. Besides, when Decker finds out, he's going to have a canary."

Hannibal had that gleam in his eyes, which could only mean one thing. Face looked at BA and rolled his eyes.

'Terrific! Hannibal's on the Jazz again BA."

Murdock pulled Elizabeth's overnight bag and purse from the trunk of the Vette. He couldn't believe the one person he had loved years before was alive and well. "Damn you Lynch." He remembered the day Lynch told him Liz was 'dead'.

It had only been a few months since Captain H.M. Murdock had been admitted to the VA hospital. He stayed in his room most of the time curled up with his knees at his chest. He hated it there. Not being able to come and go as he pleased. But most of all, he hated that his men, his unit were on the run. But one thing which made his heart ache, was how much he missed Liz. He hadn't seen her since she left Vietnam, the day before the Hanoi bank job. Remembering her nightmares and how she couldn't cope with them, made him wonder if she was all right. He and Face would sit with her for hours while she rocked back and forth and cried. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a key turning in the door lock.

"Murdock. Colonel Lynch is here. He wants to talk with you."

'Thanks Manny."

As Murdock got up, Colonel Lynch strode in the room. He gave a salute and acted all jittery.

"Umm..At ease Captain."

"Colonel Lynch, if you are here about the A-Team again, how many times do I have to tell ya."

"Captain Murdock. I'm not here about the A-Team more or less."

"Uh, more or less? Is that like half empty or half full? Ya know, I could demonstrate for ya the difference between half empty and half full."

Lynch rolled his eyes. "How's that Captain?"

"All ya have to do is look in my head. One side is half-empty and the other is half full. That's why they say I'm not all there half the time. It's really very simple."

"Ok...er..."

The Colonel shook his head and reached into his uniform jacket, pulled out a black box and handed it Murdock. When he opened it there was a pair of dog tags.

"Do you know what they are Captain."

"Well duh, they're dog tags sir."

"And do you know who they belong to?"

He shook his head and looked at them. When he saw the words:
                            Monroe, Elizabeth
                            US Army
                            Lieutenant

He almost dropped them.

"These are Lizzy's tags. Where did you get them? He snapped.

"Captain, it is to my knowledge you were very close to her."

"Yeah! So?"

"With the Lieutenant not having any next of kin, I figured you were the closest thing she had."

"Look Colonel, pardon moi for being rude, but could ya hurry up and get to the point. Billy's gettin' hungry."

"Billy?"

"He's my dog. See?"

Lynch watched Murdock pet thin air.

"Ah.... yes...well...ahem.... Captain, Elizabeth Monroe was killed in a plane crash on the way back to the states from Vietnam."

Murdock heard the words cut through him like a knife. He felt the tears sting his eyes, and his body go numb. H.M slid down the wall and brought his knees to his chest.

"No! It can't BE. No! No! NO!"

"I'm sorry for your loss Captain." Lynch turned around and walked out the door.

"Murdock! Are you OK?"

He jumped to the sound of Elizabeth's voice, and turned around with a tear stained face.

"Please, don't ever sneak up on me like that again."

"I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I was just comin' out to see what was takin' you so long. I'll take my things up to the house and leave you alone."

She grabbed her bags and walked away with a quickened pace.

"DAMN you Murdock."  He swore to himself. "LIZZY! WAIT!" He ran up and turned her to face him.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you."

"S'ok H.M. She put her hand on his face.

"God Murdock. What happened to you?"

He looked at his feet and jammed his hands into his pockets.

"I was diagnosed mentally unstable. In other words.... I'm crazy."

"You don't believe that. Do you?"

"Lizzy. It's hard for me to explain."

"Talk to me honey."

"I thought you were dead. And now you're alive. I grieved along time. I need a little time to comprehend everything."

"I understand. Come on. Let's go back to the house."

Murdock nodded and followed her.

After the evening's events, the team sat down to a well-deserved meal. There was much to celebrate. They reminisced about the good times they had in 'Nam. Not one word was spoken of Gale Sumter or the POW Camp. All of them had gone through hell and lived to tell about it. It was a time in their lives they did NOT want to relive. Liz often wondered if the guys had reoccurring nightmares as she had. She had gone through therapy lessons to try and control them. No matter how much progress she made, she still had them and couldn't control them. She feared the ghosts of her past. They could do her no harm. But in her mind they eventually could.

"It's good to have you back kid."

"Thanks Hannibal. It's good to be back. Ya know, I just don't understand why Lynch would tell Murdock I had been killed in a plane crash."

"Mmhmm. One thing's for sure, we have to try and keep you out of Decker's site for awhile. If he sees you, you'll be on the lam with the rest of us Lieutenant."

"Hannibal's right Liz. You'll be a wanted woman. Of course, if that's what you want, then you definitely have my vote and seal of approval."

"Thanks Face. That's so...Political of you."

"Ah yes. I know."

"You got mine too lil mama."

"Murdock?" Hannibal asked.

"I dunno Colonel. I mean, what about Amy? You know she'll blow a gasket."

"Captain? Am I to assume that you're against Liz to be part of the team again?"

"Colonel! This AIN'T 'Nam. I think it's too risky for her to be on the run with us."

"I think I am havin' de ja vous about this risky lecture." She said sarcastically.

"Look Lizzy, it's not that I don't want you to part of the team. But the jobs we do are dangerous. You could be seriously hurt or...killed." Murdock gulped. "And I can't go through that again."

"MURDOCK!" Liz yelled. I was in 'Nam remember? I faced a dozen or so dangerous missions with you guys. I survived the POW camp AND Gale Sumter. Two of the most trying times in my life. I was on the verge of snappin'. You saw how I was. All of you did. I faced them and dealt with it. And you tell me how risky THESE jobs are? I'm sorry you're in the VA Hospital, and I'm sorry that Lynch told you I was dead. That was something I had no control over. But I'm not gonna sit here and listen to you bellyachin' bout a job that's too risky."

'Lizzy...I..."

'Don't you LIZZY me." She screamed. Tomorrow mornin' I'll leave since you think things will be TOO RISKY. And if you get a day pass from the hospital, then you come and FIND me. I still love you H.M. and it hurts me to know you won't support me. We go in as a team and come out as a team. Member?"

Liz grabbed her windbreaker and went out onto the deck.

"Look what ya did crazy man."

"What I did? Sure, blame the crazy man for everything. Ya ugly mudsucker." Murdock yelled.

BA grabbed Murdock by the collar of his brown flight jacket and shook him wildly.

"BA! That's enough! Let him go."

"Murdock what is with you? You should be happy Liz is back into our lives."

"I am Faceman. But I grieved for a long time over her supposed death. I can't do it again. And I won't."

"Capt'n we ALL had to cope with it. But we all agreed she should be a part of the team except for you. So what's the problem?"

"Colonel, she'll be a target. And.... I STILL love her. But Amy..." He trailed off.

"You weren't worrying about Amy when kissed Liz this afternoon were you?"

"Wait...crazy man and Amy...nah." BA said.

Hannibal looked over at his Sergeant and nodded.

"FACE! You bastard!!!!! You said you wouldn't say nothin"

He threw his blue baseball cap at Face and stomped into the kitchen.

"Ahhh...Hannibal. This is a mess."

"Tell me something I don't already know Face."

Templeton got up and walked towards the door to the deck.

"I'm going to go talk to Liz."

"Good idea Lieutenant." Me and BA will try and talk some sense into Murdock."

Face ran his hand through is blonde hair and took a deep breath. When he walked out onto the deck he saw Liz sitting against the house sobbing. He sighed, went over to her and sat down beside her.

"Damn it Temp. It took me 10 years to find you guys. And the way things look, I'm bout to lose ya again." She sobbed.

Face put his arm around her as she laid her head down on his shoulder.

"Liz. You're not going to lose us again. Not if we have anything to say about it."

"Face! Just gimme a ride to my car tomorrow and I'll leave. I just can't deal with this right now."

"Elizabeth Monroe! Do you know WHOM you sound like? You sound just like Murdock. The Liz I knew would never give up. YOU always reminded us NOT to give up in the camps."

"That was 10 years ago. And we aren't in the camps anymore. I was stronger willed back then."

"And what happened to now?"

He wiped the tears from her eyes as she still cradled in his side.

"When I came home from 'Nam, I started havin' nightmares about Gale and the camp.  But after I heard you were wrongly accused of a crime that I KNOW you didn't commit, they got worse. And I never learned to control them. I was on the edge of havin' an emotional breakdown. So I went to therapy sessions. But they didn't help."

"Elizabeth. I'm so sorry."

"It's OK. It feels good to tell someone that understands. I had no one when I got back to the states. NO ONE. And in my neighborhood people would say "There's Albert and Callies foster daughter. It's a shame such a nice girl turned out to be crazy."

"They would actually say that?"

"Yup! And they made I sure I heard them too. Christ Face. There were guys who came back from 'Nam in worse condition than I. Most of them left their minds back in that hell hole and brought back pure insanity instead."

"I know what you mean. I went through tough times with Murdock. He really lost it when he found out you were... ah...dead. He didn't eat or sleep. His hygiene went to hell. So when we took on the soldiers of fortune masquerade, he somehow got back on the right track to reality more or less. I helped by springing him out of the VA. And with Dr. Richter's sessions, he has made terrific progress."

"Yeah. Then I come back and mess it all up again." Liz said.

"Sweetheart, you didn't mess anything up. If anything messed him up it was 'Nam and that farce of a story Lynch told him."

"Temp. I'm really not lookin' forward to facin' him tomorrow. Or tonight for that matter. IF he decides to speak to me."

"Liz I want to tell you a poem the Sisters taught me at the orphanage. It always gave me a sense of hope. Look to this day, for  yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness. And every tomorrow is a vision of hope."

"Face that was beautiful."

"Yeah, got me through some hectic times."

Liz and Face heard the sliding screen door open and saw Murdock with his head down and his hands in his pockets.

"Can I talk to Lizzy for a sec Faceman?"

"Sure. Be my guest."

Templeton kissed her forehead and put a hand on her face. "Remember what I said." He got up and went into the house.

Murdock walked over to where Liz was sitting. "Is this seat taken ma'am?"

"Nope. Not anymore."

He sat down beside her and drew his knees in his chest. "Beautiful night tonight huh?"

"Oh yeah just perfect." She said flatly.

"Is it true about the nightmares and stuff?"

"Yeah. How did ya know?"

"I heard some of your conversation with Facey."

"OH."

"I went through the same thing ya know. I made progress but sometimes they come back."

"I know Face told me."

"Liz, it hasn't been easy on me."

"Oh and you think it's been easy on ME? Well guess again PAL. I NEVER got over the nightmares or YOU. It doesn't matter anymore. Tomorrow mornin' I'm outta here."

"So Face basically wasted his breath on you then. Tellin' you all this stuff."

"So now I'm a waste of BREATH? Well you know what Captain H.M. Murdock? FUCK YOU!"

She got up and stood at the railing of the deck. Murdock quickly scrambled to his feet and went over to her.

"Liz. I'm sorry I didn't mean it that way."

He could see the tears fall down her face.

"Oh man. I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you cry."

"A little late for that Captain."

"Come here, listen to me." He said as he brought her into his chest for a hug. "I AM sorry. I never meant to hurt you. All I'm sayin' is, I wouldn't be able to handle it if somethin' happened to you. I thought I lost you once. And I sure as hell don't wanna lose you again."

She pulled away from him.

"I understand. But you guys are all I have in this world. I've never understood anything in life until I met YOU. Hell Murdock, sometime I STILL don't understand."

Liz shivered and wrapped her arms around herself as a cool wind rolled off the ocean.

"This windbreaker sure isn't breaking the chill from the wind." She said.

"Here Muchacha."

Murdock took off his flight jacket and draped it around Elizabeth's shoulders. They looked over to see Hannibal, BA and Face come out onto the deck.

"So.... What's the verdict? Yay or Ney." Face said.

The pilot looked at Liz with soft eyes and smiled. "YAY"

"Nice Captain. Nice."

The reunited team decided to play a few hands of poker. Three of which Face had won. He was dealing out the cards as Liz got up to get something to drink. She saw an Ace of Spades stuck up his sleeve.

"Uh Face...you mind getting' that Ace of Spades out of your sleeve?"

"What are you talking about? ME have an ace up my sleeve? That's ridiculous."

"Sucka betta not be cheatin"

"Well Lieutenant?"

"Hannibal I...." He sighed and removed the Ace from his sleeve.

"Aww Faceman! Everytime we play cards you cheat!"

"I don't always cheat Murdock."

"OK. Sometimes then."

"Hannibal, as car just pulled in the drive. Might be Hot Rod." Liz said.

"Face, give Liz that extra 9mm."

Face went over to his briefcase and pulled out the 9mm. He made sure there was a full magazine and handed it to Liz. She took the safety off and hid around the corner her back pressed against the wall. There was a soft knock at the door. Hannibal had pointed over to Murdock to look throught the peephole.

"It's only Amy guys." He opened the door and let her in.

"Hey guys. What's going...on?"

"We thought you were Decker." Hannibal said.

"Now Hannibal if I was Decker I would have said, Alright Smith, I'm giving you 30 seconds to come out with your hands up. If not we're coming in." Amy said in her best Decker impersonation.

Liz came around the corner and put the safety back on.

"Hey Face you have a holster for this?" Liz asked.

"Yeah. I'll get it for you."

"Thanks hot lips." She teased.

Templeton blushed a dark shade of red and went to the closet to get the holster.

"So Hannibal, are you going to introduce me to your.... Friend?" Amy asked with a hint of jealousy in her voice.

"Amy Amanda Allen, this is Lieutenant Elizabeth Monroe."

"Call me Liz... nice to meet ya Amy." Liz said as Face helped her put the holster on.

"Charmed I'm sure. Is she a client?"

"No. She's apart of the team. She was my 2nd Lieutenant in 'Nam."

"Yeah. She ran missions with us and worked in the MASH unit."

"Are you serious Murdock?

"Yupperooni Aimster."

"I thought women didn't run missions?"

"Well they normally don't. But you could technically say she had Special Forces training." Hannibal said. See, we haven't been in contact with her for 10 years. Lynch had told Murdock she was killed in plane crash and gave him her dog tags. EXCEPT, she wasn't on that plane."

"Woman in Vietnam who ran missions with a Special Forces team is mistaken for being killed in a plane crash. That would make a great story."

"Don't think about a story quite yet. I need her to keep a low profile for now."

"Hannibal, do you think this has something to do with the bank job?"

"I dunno Face. It could very well be a possibility. You would think Decker wouldn't have tailed her if she was supposed to be dead."

"It's probably another one of the governments cover ups. And we ALL know how they cover things up."

"Good thinking Lieutenant."

"I know. It's one of the many gifts in my repertoire."

"Well she wasn't with you guys a couple days ago."

"That's because I uh...just happened to run into Face at the VA hospital."

"The VA HOSPITAL? WHAT were you doing there?"

'I went to see Murdock. But I bumped into Temp first."

"I see. So you were a good friend of Murdock's?"

"You...you could say that." Liz said softly.

"They involved during 'Nam." BA said.

"INVOLVED? As in dating?" She looked over at Liz who was looking down at her feet. Amy could see she was becoming uncomfortable with the conversation.

"Yeah Amy."

"Guys, I don't mean to be a party pooper, but I think I am gonna hit the hay."

"Oh don't leave the party on MY account Lieutenant Monroe." Amy said sarcastically.

Face looked at Hannibal. They knew a fight was about to break out but said nothing. They mentally told each other to let nature take its course.

"It's been a really long day for me. I just need to get some sleep."

"Oh, I get it. So you think in one day that you can just waltz back in their lives and be part of the team? Or after 10 years decide to pay a visit to Murdock at the VA."

"Amy YOU waltzed in and became part of the team in one day."

She glared at Hannibal.

"Look Amy. I had no idea they thought I was dead. I've been looking for them for 10 years. And the only reason why I knew H.M. was at the VA hospital, was from newspaper articles. So if you will excuse me, I need some rest."

Amy grabbed her arm with a tight grip. "I don't know who the hell you are...in fact I don't want to know. So save your pathetic sob story for someone who cares. I wouldn't be surprised if you were in cahoots with Decker."

Liz pulled her arm away from Amy with force.

"Lemme tell you somethin' sister. Don't you EVER accuse me for being one of Decker's bird dogs. My loyalty has always been to the team. You weren't there when Decker raided my house or had MP's follow me. The only pathetic one in THIS room Miss Allen is you. You're just uptight because Murdock and I have a history together."

Amy rolled her eyes. "Well if you're not involved with Decker, then why wait 10 years to get in contact with them. Where's your loyalty NOW Lieutenant Monroe?"

"Lay off Amy." Hannibal said as he lit up his cigar.

"But Hannibal...how can you possibly..."

"I SAID lay off Amy."

Liz looked at Murdock and Face and stormed to one of the rooms and slammed the door behind her. Face clasped his hands together.

"Gee, I think that went rather well."

Hannibal took a puff of his cigar. "Oh yeah... just peachy Lieutenant."

"Colonel, maybe I should go talk to her."

"Good idea capt'n."

"Wait. I need to talk to you all first."

"Say your piece kid."

"I came to tell you all goodbye."

"Goodbye?" they all said in unison.

"Yes I have been promoted to do some international correspondence in Jakarta. So I leave first thing tomorrow morning."

"Tomorrow muchacha? We were supposed to go to the zoo."

"I'm sorry Murdock. I couldn't pass this offer up. It's my dream."

"Well good luck Amy. We'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too Face."

"Well you keep in touch mama."

"Always."

"What about us Aimster. Things were going so well."

"I'm sorry Murdock. But this is really important to me."

She kissed his cheek and said her good-byes. Before she walked out the door, she turned to the Colonel.

"Hannibal be careful. There's something about her that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up."

"Don't worry. Everything will be fine. I trust her." He said with his cigar clenched through his teeth.

She shook her head and left.

"Well that was interesting."

"To say the least Face."

"Guys, I'm gonna check on Liz."

"My thoughts exactly captain."

The guys marched down the small hallway and opened the door she had slammed earlier. She was lying on the opposite end of the bed and was fast asleep.

"Awww. Colonel, she must have been plum tuckered out."

"Shut up fool. You wake her."

"OK guys, Murdock you take first watch. Face you sleep in Liz's room. And well, me and BA we will take the other room because we need our beauty sleep."

Face rolled his eyes. Nighty night Colonel."

Murdock crept into Elizabeth and Face's room. He kissed her forehead and grabbed his rifle.

"Face, holler if ya need anything." He whispered.

"Will do." Templeton quietly turned on the night-light and slipped into the other double bed.

"Good night angel. Welcome back."

Face was dreaming about a beautiful, green-eyed brunette, sharing a romantic evening while in a hot tub. Taking small seductive sips of their champagne. Laughing and whispering sweet nothings. He jolted out of his dream by a blood-curdling scream. "LIZ!" He jumped out of bed and went to her side. Her arms were flailing wildly at nothing. Before he could grab her wrists, she screamed again, and knocked over the lamp on the nightstand and sent it crashing to the floor.

"MURDOCK!" Face screamed.

"NOOOO.... Please NOOOOOO. Face help meeee."

Murdock came bursting in the room. "Oh my God. What's happenin'?

"I dunno. I think it's a nightmare."

H.M. handed Face his weapon and gently grabbed Elizabeth's wrists.

"Lizzy...Lizzy."

She still fought his grip. "NOOOOOOOO!!! FACE NOT YOUR FAULT!"

"LIZZY... WAKE UP."

She jolted as her eyes flung open. She looked around the room confused. Face was sitting at the edge of the bed running his hand through her hair. When Murock saw she had calmed down, he let go of her wrists. She jumped into Templeton's lap. Surprised, he hugged her tightly.

"Lizzy what was all that about?"

She didn't answer. She just rocked back and forth in Faces arms. Hannibal was standing at the door with a growling BA behind him.

"Everything OK in here guys?"

"She had a nightmare Colonel. Almost like the ones I used to have."

"Lieutenant Monroe, are you alright?"

She didn't answer. She just kept rocking back and forth and muttering something they couldn't hear or understand.

"Lieutenant Monroe. Answer me. That's an ORDER."

Hannibal raised his voice in an attempt to bring her back to reality.

"Colonel. Do you have to holler at her? She can't help it. You 'member how she was when Dan Thomas attacked her. Or even worse at the camp."

Hannibal looked at Murdock and nodded. He knew what his Captain said was true. He hated to see his team members emotionally unstable. Especially the youngest member. LIZ. It made him uncomfortable.

"Guys, go get some sleep. I'll take care of her."

"You sure Face?"

"Yeah."

"Hannibal, ya want me to take watch?"

"Yeah BA. Murdock needs to sleep."

"Git some rest fool."

BA grabbed the rifle lying beside Face and left the room.

"Colonel. Can I sleep in your room?"

"Sure Captain."

"Murdock you can stay in here with me and Liz if you want to."

"No thanks. I won't be able to catch any Z's if I sleep in here."

"You ok Murdock?"

"Yeah. I just need some sleep Hannibal." Murdock said softly.

"Alright then. Face, let us know if you need anything."

"OK."

The Colonel and Murdock left Face with the still rocking Lieutenant. He was amazed after all the time, which had past; she had not come out of her trance so to speak.

"Elizabeth. It's Templeton. Can you hear me?

No answer.

"Liz, please come back to me. I'm not going to lose you mentally like I almost lost Murdock. Come on honey snap out of it."

Just then Face remembered how is used to get Liz oriented. He used to sing to her.

"No what was it I used to sing to you.... ah...yes.....You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear how much I LOVE you. Please don't take my sunshine away."

He sat quietly for a few moments and realized Liz had stopped rocking. He looked down and caught eye contact. In the dim light, her ice blue eyes were like the sea after a storm. All the pain and sorrow he had seen in her eyes many times before, was shining through once again. He had first seen her in this state when Dan Thomas had attacked her. But it was much worse when the VC captured them. They had taken Murdock to another tiger cage. Pilots had gotten the chaos and mayhem of the beatings and interrogations worse than the rest of the prisoners.  One night, Liz saw the VC bring Murdock back to his cage. He was clearly unconscious. She started to sob. Hannibal had tried to quiet it her, But it was too late. The guards ripped open the cage and grabbed Face and Liz.

"Face, Liz... tell them nothing but name and rank." Hannibal said.

They nodded and were dragged away. Peck and Monroe had been taken to a small shack like building. Close enough for their commanding officer to hear their cries of agony. They were forcefully pushed to the ground and ordered to strip down to their undergarments. Face's thoughts were interrupted when Liz had spoken his name.

"Temp."

"Hey, nice of you to join me Liz. I thought you put the DO Not Disturb sign on your door permanently."

She gave a weak smile. "I had a nightmare didn't I?"

"Yes. It must have been a pretty violent one. Murdock had to come in and restrain you."

"Oh Murdock. I can't face him right now."

"Yes you can. You're strong."

"I had figured out the Amy thing. I know they're an item. I just wish he would've told me."

"They WERE an item. Amy took an international correspondence job.  He still loves you Liz. I know he does. HEY, how did we get on the subject of Murdock hmmm? I think someone named Elizabeth Monroe changed the subject."

"Guilty as charged Lieutenant Peck."

"IN all seriousness Liz, what were you dreaming about?" He asked softy.

She knew he would have eventually asked her that question. "The camp."

"Oh" Face turned his head away from Liz. Trying to hold back the tears welling up in his blue eyes.

"Templeton. It's not your fault ya know. They made you do those things. I don't hold you responsible."

He let the tears flow down his face. "I've had the nightmares to Sunnie. But it never stopped there. It never ended up the actual way it happened."

"What do you mean?"

"You didn't make it Liz. And I was the one WHO had to bury you."

"But you didn't. I'm here with you now."

Liz still lay in his arms as his grip tightened.

"I know you are. And I am grateful for that. But I have never forgiven myself for the things I did to you. They have haunted me for 10 years. Even after I had heard of your death...it had bothered me to no end. I never once told you how sorry I was."

"Face you never had to. I've always known. You've comforted and stuck by me more time than I can count. And to me, that's your repayment." She reached up and touched his cheek. "Don't go makin' yourself sick over somethin' you couldn't control. Lots of men did stuff in the camp they didn't want to do."

"Yes I know. But THEY didn't do those things to you. I did."

Liz sat up, turned to Face and took his hands in hers. "Face listen to me. I NEVER blamed you for those things. And I never will. How many times must I tell ya that, to get it through your handsome thick skull."

"But...Liz...I"

"Shhhh. Now gimme a hug. He hugged her tight. She could her faint sobs coming from the Faceman. But not a word was said. After a few minutes had past, he pulled away from her.

"We better get some sleep. It's late."

"Cuz tomorrow is another day. And I'm gonna have to face H.M. sometime. Might as well be sooner than later."

"Don't worry, things will be better tomorrow." Face got off the side of the bed and went over to the one he occupied before.

"Face would you mind if I asked you to sleep in my bed...with me."

"You sure?"

"Yeah I need you to."

He slipped into bed beside her. She put her head on his shoulder and curled up to his side.

"Night Tempy."

"Good night Elizabeth." He kissed her forehead and fell asleep.

Liz woke up to find Face gone and Murdock sitting in the chair next to the bed. He looked like he hadn't much sleep. But his big brown eyes were gentle.

"Mornin' H.M."

"Mornin'. How ya feelin'?"

"Ok I guess. Could probably use a few more winks of sleep though. And by your looks, so could you."

"I couldn't sleep. I was worried about ya."

Liz turned on her side and propped her head in her hand. "Don't you worry none about me Murdock."

He looked nervously around the room until his eyes met hers. "Lizzy. We gotta talk."

"Yeah I know. I want you to know somethin'. I know about you and Amy. I promise I won't get in the way."

Murdock sighed and adjusted his baseball hat. "Amy's gone. She took an international job."

"So that's what Face meant." She thought to herself. "I'm sorry Murdock. I know it must be hard on you."

"Nope. I can't say it is. I know I really didn't love her."

"Oh?" She sat up.

"She could never be you."

"What are you saying H.M?"

"Lizzy I have only ever loved one girl. No other girl could make me feel the way you do. It's a weird sorta feelin'. Kinda the way I feel when I'm flyin' high in the big blue." I never wanna come down. That's why I took it so hard when Lynch told me...you ahh.. were gone."

"Murdock I haven't stopped thinkin' about ya since I left H.Q."

Face came in through the door with two plates of Eggs Benedict. "Ah, good you're up. I brought breakfast for my two favorite people." He handed Liz and Murdock each a plate.

"TEMPY! You remembered. Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast."

"Of course I remembered. I had to practically sell my soul to the devil to get you those eggs in 'Nam."

"Thanks Faceman. My tummy just told me it needed some grub."

"Well I would enjoy it. The Colonel looked like he was on the jazz."

"Why do you say that Temp?"

"He had THAT look in his eyes. And he was way too cheery."

"Should we be worried?"

"I don't know Murdock. You know how the Colonel is. Everything is a piece of cake."

About an hour and a half later, Liz had joined the team in the kitchen. Each of them knowing of her nightmare she assumed. So she acted as if nothing happened.

"Mornin' BA, Hannibal."

"Morning Kid."

"OK...what's up? You guys are awfully quiet."

"Well remember when I told you Hannibal had that look in his eyes.. hmmm? Well I was right. He has a plan to find out the story behind Lynch."

"Uh oh. Why do I have the feelin' I'm gonna be the bait?"

"CONGRATULATIONS LIZZY MONROE! The Hannibal Smith Plan Agency has randomly selected you, to be the bait for one of his wild and crazy plans. Which almost NEVER work out the way they should. How do you feel about that Miss Monroe?"

"No comment Mr. Murdock."

"Crazy fool!" BA said.

Liz was afraid to ask about the plan. But since it consisted of her being the bait, she sighed and asked. "OK...so what's the plan Hannibal?"

"Well, I WAS thinking, along the lines of placing a phone call and setting up a meeting with the Good Colonel. You'll ask him to come alone. In which case he won't, He'll probably have Decker staked out somewhere. But we'll be ready for them if they show up."

"That's it? Hannibal...how are you guys gonna find out anything if you're hidin' in the shadows. Or where ever you're gonna be."

"WHO lurks in the hearts of men? THE Shadows knows. Muahamuahaha." Murdock said in his evil villain voice.

"I'm gonna lurk in YOUR face...if ya don't shuddup fool."

"Everybody's a critic."

"Lieutenant, you'll be wearing this."  Hannibal said as he showed her the tiny bug that would be planted on her. "We'll be listening from the van."

"Uh..Ok. And when are we placing the call?"

"Anytime you're ready."

"Let's do it now."

BA hooked up a devise to the phone so the Military couldn't trace the call. He handed the phone to Liz and dialed the number.

"US Army switch board, how may I direct your call?"

"I'd like to speak to Colonel Lynch please."

"One momment."

Liz gave the thumbs up. A few minutes past by and Lynch was on the line.

"This is Colonel Lynch."

"Well if it isn't the lyin' dog of the US Army."

"I beg your pardon! Who IS this?"

"You know me very well Colonel. As a matter of fact, you told Captain Murdock I was dead."

"I don't know what you're talking about?"

"Come on Lynch you can do better than that."

"Lieutenant Monroe what a pleasant surprise.  Lynch said nervously. "What can I do for you."

"Well you can rot in hell for all I care. But before you do, I wanna know why you told Murdock I was dead. SO I want you to meet with me."

"Meeting is impossible."

"Well lemme put it to ya this way Lynch, if ya don't, I guess I will just have to go public. I'll just call a press conference with the media and let them know how the US Army screwed up."

"Alright..alright. When and where?"

"Tonight. Los Angeles pier # 21, at 2 am. ALONE. And you better not try anything stupid Lynch."

She hung up the phone and looked at Hannibal. "How'd I do Colonel?"

"Great Lieutenant. Great."

"Hannibal, are you sure going through the front door like this is a good idea. It could be dangerous. Especially when Liz is the bait."

He put his arm around Face. "Face, this isn't going through the front door. Just a little meeting to understand WHY Lynch said such nonsense."

"Besides Tempy, there ain't no bite, if ya don't have any bait. AND, you guys will be close by lisntenin' in. So if I get into trouble, you guys can swing by and save me."

"ME Tarzan. YOU Jane. Tarzan save you from bad guys." Murdock took Liz over his shoulder and starting running around the beach house. She giggled until tears came down her face.

"MURDOCK! Put me DOWN."

"ME Tarzan. Must save Jane."

"MURDOCK!"

"Hey fool. Put 'er down.""

Murdock put her down and smacked her rear end.

"HEY! You better watch what you're smackin' flyboy."

Face looked to Murdock. "Well if you don't then I will."

She heard Templeton's comment and kissed his cheek. "I heard that Lieutenant."

"What time is it crazy man?"

"Time to get a watch big guy."

"Fool."

"BA, STOP calling me fool. It's 0155 hundred hours."

"See anything yet Colonel?"

"Not yet Face."

"Ok Hannibal, I'm ready."

Hannibal handed her a gun and some clips. "Alright, listen up Lieutenant, ANYTHING doesn't seem right, or you suspect you have other eyes and ears besides us, you get the hell out of there. Understood?"

"Yes sir."

"Alright... showtime."

She nodded and opened up the sliding van door to get out. Murdock had caught her arm and looked deep into her eyes.

"Becareful Lizzy."

"Aww...you know me Murdock, I'm always careful." She winked.

She leaned and pecked his lips. "I'll be back."

"Get going Monroe."

She saluted and was on her way. Liz walked slowly in the shadows, looking for surprises that might jump out at her. There was a man standing underneath the pier.

"I hope that's Lynch." She thought. I've been on more dangerous missions than this. Why the hell am I so scared? Come on Lieutenant, pull yourself together. It's only your life at stake." As she neared the figure, her heart began to race. There was a sigh of relief when she saw it was Lynch. Finally they were face to face.

"Alright Lt. Monroe, I'm here. What do you want?"

"I wanna know why you told Captain Murdock I was killed in a plane crash coming back to the states."

"So you ARE in contact with the A-Team."

"No Lynch, that's not what I said. Captain Murdock and I have no connection with the team anymore. Now TELL me why, or I go public."

"It was to protect you."

"Protect me from what?"

"Someone has a vendetta against you and wants you dead. Not to mention there was some questions to whether you had information about the robbing that took place at the Hanoi Bank."

"Vendetta? Information?

"It's complicated."

"Yeah, I've heard that before. I have no information about the Hanoi Bank job. I was flown back to the states the night before. UNLESS...

"Unless?"

"I was there when Morrison gave Colonel Smith signed orders for their next mission."

"You WERE there!"

"Yeah. I came to pick up some papers before I left."

"The supposed orders they were given had destroyed in the bombing."

"That's what I read in the newspaper articles."

"I had you followed for awhile. I thought maybe Smith or one of his men contacted you. We suspected there was someone else that knew about the orders. We never thought that you could have been the link."

"Are you saying you think the A-Team is innocent?"

"I didn't say that Lieutenant. There might be a good chance if you were there the night Morrison gave them the orders you could free them of all charges. BUT, I think that there were no orders, and Smith and his men are guilty."

"Well you're mistaken AGAIN Colonel. Lemme tell you somethin', the army has destroyed my life as well as the A-Team's."

"Oh? Why do you say that?"

"Because none of this makes any sense."

"There are classified questions and allegations Lt. Monroe, about the bank job. BUT I will tell you that you are in extreme danger if you aren't careful. I understand that you had a rough time with a specific..."

Suddenly there were gunshots ringing through the night air. Liz started firing back.

"LYNCH! HIT THE DECK!" Liz screamed.

"Too...late... Monroe.. they found you."

Liz crawled to Lynch and saw he had taken a bullet in the chest and the stomach."

"Lt. Monroe..." He said quietly.

"Hang tight Colonel. Help is on the way."

"Too..late..for..me..but..not..for you. Find men...whooo...." Lynch went limp.

"Damn it." She got on her knees and started CPR. Come on Colonel."

There were more gunshots fired. She felt a stinging in her chest as she fell to the ground with a THUD. There was screeching of tires and voices shouting out to her. Liz couldn't move. She was too frightened. The Lt. felt her jacket being removed and people talking to her. Her vision was blurry, but could see a white haired man checking her over.

"Han..Hannibal..."

"Hey kid. Hang on."

"Did it work?"

"Yeah. We heard the conversation."

"N..n..no." She stammered. " The bullet proof vest."

"Oh yeah..... You're going to be sore for a couple of days. But you'll live."

"Lynch?"

"He didn't make it."

"Damn."

"BA, Murdock let's get her out of here."

They lifted Liz to a standing position. Her balance was thrown off.

"Easy there Lizzy. The Big Guy and me are here. Just lean on us."

"ARGHHHH."

"What's the matta lil mama?"

"My... my chest feels like it's on fire."

"Yeah it will for awhile. Ok babe, lift your foot. There ya go."

In a distance they heard sirens. Face looked through the binoculars. "Uh oh! Decker! Come on Hannibal Decker's coming."

"Face did you hear the conversation?"

"Yes...but we had some trouble with static and there were something's we couldn't hear. But you can brief us later."

Hannibal jumped in the van and pulled out a cigar. "GO BA!"

He pushed the pedal to the metal in case Decker had seen them pull away from the scene.

"Liz, you alright?"

"Yeah Tempy, I'm...OW...I'm alright."

"Murdock, do a secondary injury check on Liz. Just to make sure."

"Roger Colonel."

Murdock skillfully checked over Elizabeth's body. "Lizzy, I have to lift up your shirt."

"OK..."

She could feel the uncomfortable atmosphere with the other three teammates. "What? It's not like any of you haven't seen a woman before. Sheesh."

Hannibal chuckled and took a puff of his cigar.

"Hannibal, why ya have to smoke in my van?"

"Now BA, you know I think better when I have a cigar."

BA grumbled a few words and kept driving.

"Ah..Colonel... whoever took this shot KNEW what they were doing."

The colonel looked back at Murdock as he finished checking over Liz. "Any injuries Capt'n?"

"She's got a small bump on the head, and bad bruising dead center chest area."

"Any higher and she would have lost it all."

Face looked at Hannibal and nodded.

"BA, lets go back to the beach house and grab some things. I think we should hole up somewhere more isolated for a couple of days."

"Right Hannibal."

That's the last thing Liz heard before drifting into sleep.

"Liz...Liz...Wake up."

"Huh...What?"

"It's Face."

"Face... what's up?"

"Hannibal wants to talk to you."

"Oh..Ok...Face where are we? This isn't the beach house."

"The colonel decided it was best if we went to a more out of the way place. Called Bad Rock. At least for a couple days. You need some rest."

"Uhhh...Temp.... If I need rest, why the hell did you wake me up? No.. lemme guess. Hannibal wants to know what happened tonight."

"Actually that would be last night."

"WHAT?"

"Honey you've been asleep for 13 hours."

"Can I at least get a shower and freshen up. OWWWWW."

When she tried to get up, a sharp fire like pain shot through her body.

"Hey you have to take it easy. Let me help you." He carefully helped her out of bed and into the bathroom. There were fresh towels and toiletries already laid out for her.

"Thanks Face."  She said as she closed the door except for a small crack.

"Elizabeth, do you need any help in THERE?"

"No thanks."

"Are you sure? I could give you the most relaxing massage you ever had."

She opened the door to Face's handsome smile. "Listen, I'm fine. So take your pretty boy smile, and high tail it outta here. A girl needs her privacy."

"Yes...well...ah...if you need me let me know."

Before he left the room, he opened the dresser drawer and pulled out a brown paper wrapped package. He opened it and took the out a beautiful baby blue pleated sundress made by Gucci, and laid it on the bed. He then went to the closet and pulled out a brand new pair of white tennis shoes and put them beside the dress. He was about to go out the door when he remembered a small box he had put in his jacket before they left the beach house. The box was gold with a perfect red bow on the lid for decoration.

"Ah yes. Anything for a beautiful woman who could steal the hearts of men with her eyes and smile. Hmmm... obviously I was a little late for the line up. Ah well.

After a peaceful and relaxing shower, Liz peeked into the room and made sure the coast was clear of Templeton Peck. She went over to the bed when she saw the beautiful blue dress staring at her.

"This is beautiful." She thought. She saw the Gucci tag and smiled. "Only the best for Templeton Peck." Lieutenant Monroe dried herself off and got dressed. As she was finishing tying her shoelaces, she saw a gold box sitting on the dresser. Curious as to who it belonged to,Liz opened it. Inside was a gold necklace with a half-karat diamond solitaire attached to it. There was a little note that read:

Lieutenant Elizabeth Monroe... You have always been the sunshine of MY life, as well as the rest of the team. Welcome back Sunnie. Love, Templeton.

Tear welled up in her eyes. She had never felt such love and warmth in her entire life. She wiped the tears away and put on the necklace.

Liz made her way down the stairs slowly. Her chest was still sore from last night's events. Every jolt sent a sharp pain through her body. She wanted to scream out in pain, but kept it at a soft whimper at the back of her throat. She heard the familiar sound of BA threatening Murdock. Finally, she reached the last step. Walking slowly into the living room. Everyone looked up at Liz with mouths wide open.

"WOW Muchacha, you look......"

"Stunning."

"My thoughts exactly Facey."

"Uh thanks guys."

"You don't have no thoughts because ya ain't got no brain crazy man."

"John close you mouth and introduce me to your friend."

"Oh right..Lt. Elizabeth Monroe, this is Dr. Maggie Sullivan."

"Nice to meet you Dr. Sullivan."

"Oh for heaven sakes girl, call me Maggie. John tells me you had a run in with a little lead last night."

"Yeah. I've been through worse though." She smiled.

"Well if you don't mind honey, I'd like to check over you."

"Yeah... that's fine with me."

"Now BA, I was just talking to Billy."

"There ain't no dog."

"Come one big guy...just get to know him."

"I'm not gonna talk to somethin' that ain't there."

"He is so ya big ugly mudsucker."

BA grabbed Murdock and pushed him backward into Liz. His elbow had struck the sore spot on her chest. She tried not to cry out but the pain was overwhelming.  She fell to the floor from the force of the blow. Face rushed over to Liz to see if she was all right.

"Aww man. Look what ya did crazy fool."

"WHAT I DID? You're the one who pushed me back into her."

"I wouldn't have had to if ya stopped your crazy jibber jabber."

"Pardon me for being rude, but could you two PLEASE shut up and stop bickering."

BA growled and went outside to tinker with the van.

"OK Elizabeth, I think I should check you over NOW."

"Ok...Mag.... gie." Liz said in an airy and whimpery voice.

"Lizzy I'm sorry. I' didn't mean to hurt you."

She nodded her head as Face and Maggie helped her to stand. Murdock grabbed his baseball cap and jacket and stormed out of the house. As on instinct, Face looked at Hannibal and went off after the pilot. The Colonel saw the sadness in his second lieutenants eyes.

"Don't worry Liz. They're big boys. They just need to blow off some steam."

She tried to smile but the tears came to her eyes. It was bad enough she would be out of commission for another few days, but to see her men, her brothers in an uproar made her sad.

"John could you help me get her to the examination room?"

"Sure thing Doc."

Murdock sat behind an old oak tree with he knees drawn to his chest. He was tired and emotionally stressed. Everything seemed to go wrong, even when things seemed to go right. He heard footsteps coming near him. "Probably the Colonel comin' to lecture me." He thought. Murdock looked up expecting to see Hannibal, but was surprised to see Face.

"Hey Murdock."

"Hey Faceman."

"Want to talk?"

"Not really in the mood."

"Come on H.M! What's the matter?

"I want ya to take me back to the VA."

"The VA? Why? Come on, you can tell me."

"I'm tired of bein' the crazy man or crazy fool as BA would say. Seems like all I ever do is hurt the people I love. I'm tired Faceman. Not just physically, but mentally. I mean, the first time I saw Lizzy, I thought my mind was playin' tricks on me. But there she was. After 10 years of thinkin' I'd never get to touch or feel or her again."

Face could see the tears consuming the pilots brown eyes. He sat down and put his arm around him for some comfort.

"I didn't want to snap Facey. I really didn't. I couldn't help it. People think because I'm insane nothin' gets to me. Well it does. And the more it builds up, the more I feel like I'm gonna crack again." He sobbed.

"Ah Murdock you're tough. You can get through anything."

"See, that's what I mean Face. People ASSUME I'm tough and can handle almost anything. But I can't.... I just can't."

"Murdock listen to me. I will help you through this. So will Liz. You damn well know how much we both love you."

"I know ya do." He said as he wiped his eyes.

"Well then let's go see how our 2nd lieutenant is doing." Face helped Murdock to his feet and both headed to the house.

"John you can come in now." Maggie called.

He came into the examination room with concern in his eyes. "Well Doc?"

"I noticed she had a small knot on her head and some deep tissue bruising from where the bullet made contact. She was very lucky. This could have been worse. But she'll be fine. I gave her some pain medication"

"How ya feeling kid?"

"I'm tired colonel."

"She needs rest Hannibal."

Liz was dozing off to sleep on the examination table. He scooped her up in his arms and carried her up to the bedroom she was occupying. The colonel laid her down and tucked her in like a child that was over exerted from a long day. He put his hand on her forehead.

"Sleep tight lieutenant."

When he turned to leave the room he heard Liz say, "Thanks... Dad."

He smiled to himself and walked out of the room.

"How is she colonel? Murdock asked Hannibal as he was coming down the last few steps.

"She's sleeping now. Maggie gave her some pain medication."

"Oh."

The pilot couldn't look at his commanding officer in the eye. He was the one who hurt Liz. Guilt had overcome his body. "Lizzy was ok until BA pushed me into her." He thought.

As if Hannibal could read his thoughts he clasped a hand on his shoulder. "Capt'n, don't beat yourself up about this. Because if you do, the only bruises you are gonna have is the one on your conscious."

"My conscious has been bruised ever since 'Nam Colonel. What's the difference if I add somethin' else to the list of bruises."

"That's why you get upset Murdock." Face said. "You let everything build up on your conscious."

"Oh yeah Face. I forgot, you're a shrink now instead of a con man right? Maybe I should tell Richter to hit the road Jack."

" Murdock! I never said I was a shrink OR Richter for that matter. I KNOW you Murdock. All too well."

"What in the blazes is going on out here?"

"Sorry Doc, just a misunderstanding."

"Well try and keep it down, my patient is trying to sleep."

"Sorry Maggie." Face and Murdock said in unison.

"It's alright boys. Now find something constructive to do. I have to go pick up Hank at the airport."

"Hey Maggie, do you think Hank will let me fly the chopper?"

"I wouldn't see why not. I'll talk to him on the way home."

"Thanks Maggaroo." Murdock said as he hugged her.

When it came to flying, he could fly anything that had wings. Being in the big blue gave him the sense of sanity. Nothing came more natural to him than flying a chopper or some kind of plane. He felt he was free from the nightmares, and free from the worry that he had for his units safety. Murdock hated that his friends, his family was being hunted down by the military for a crime they didn't commit. But when he was in the air, he was carefree.

"Come on guys, do you think arguing back and forth at each other is gonna help the lieutenant? Because it's not. No one should be blaming anyone for anything."

"Colonel you sound an awful like Face."

"Neat huh? Now come on guys, lets get things cleaned up before Doc Sullivan gets back."

Hannibal and Face were helping Maggie prepare for the evening's meal. Murdock was in the living room watching cartoons and BA had not yet come back from tinkering with his van. The guys knew he was angry, because he had been out there for almost 5 hours. They knew BA well enough to just let him go. A crash and a loud, shrill scream interrupted everyone. Murdock was the first up the stairs.

"NOOOOOOO! NOOOOOOOO! FACEEEEEEEEEE!"

"Lizzy it's H.M...Lizzy.

Elizabeth thrashed around until she felt protective arms around her. Just as she was calming down, Face, Hannibal, Maggie AND BA came darting through the door.

"Murdock where's Face?"

"I'm right here Sunnie."

When Liz saw Templeton was all right, she clung to Murdock as tight as she could. Almost like a child who has been reunited with a loved one after being lost.

"I heard her scream from outside Hannibal." BA said emotionally.

Hannibal put his arm around the black man. "She's alright BA. She had another nightmare." BA put his head down and clenched his fists. Each of the guys knew what her dreams were about. Because they ALL have had them.

"John I have to go check on the roast. If you need me I'll be downstairs."

Hannibal nodded his head and gave her a quick peck on the lips.

Liz still clung to Murdock her grip not loosening.

"Lieutenant, you alright?"

"Yeah Colonel." She said.

"What were you dreaming about?"

"The...the camp. I try to control them. But... But I can't."

"We'll help you through them. We're here for you."

"Thanks colonel."

"Come on BA. Let's go help the Doc with the grub."

Both men kissed her on the forehead and left. Face was about to leave when he heard Liz call out to him.

"Face. I want you to stay with me and Murdock."

He smiled, as he was relieved she asked him to stay.

"Lizzy, these past times you had niteymares, ya screamed for Face. Did somethin' happen to you two when you were interrogated, that we don't know about?"

Liz looked at Face. "Just the normal torturing and suffering routine." Face said.

The captain knew there was more to the story than they lead on. He could see it in their eyes when they looked at each other. But Murdock decided not to press the issue. The truth would eventually come out sooner or later. He didn't know what went on in the sessions but knew it had something to do with the two of them She let go of Murdock and extended her arms to the Faceman. She embraced him for she knew he was worried about her. The pilot felt Elizabeth's arm go over his shoulder and pulled him closer to her and Face. The three held each other while Liz started to sob.

"I want you guys to know how I love the both of you. And I'm sorry you have to see me like this."

"Baby, Face and I love you too. And I don't want ya to be sorry about anythin'. You can't help it that the war has scarred you. I know, cuz I been through it."

"He's right Liz. He HAS been through it. We ALL have our scars and our own nightmares."

"But Face, sometimes I think I'm back.... there. I can actually smell the blood and horror of it all. For God's sake, I was only supposed to be a nurse in the MASH unit." Liz said as her voice cracked with emotion. But the best thing I gained from it all, was the four of you."

"That's the nicest thing anyone has said about us lieutenant."

"Hannibal were you eavesdropping?"

"No Face. I came up here to tell you it was suppertime. And I accidentally over heard her comment."

"Yeah sure...Colonel I have a question for you."

"What's on your mind Liz?"

"Well I was wondering who had first watch tonight. And was wondering if they mind if I took their spot."

"I don't know. You still aren't in any shape..."

"Come on Hannibal. You KNOW I can do it. I did it in 'Nam."

"She's right Mien Colonel. She DID do watches in the jungle. And was good at it."

"ALRIGHT lieutenant. You can have 1st watch"

"Thanks Hannibal." Liz kissed his cheek and he blushed.  "Now come on guys, let's go eat before there's nothin' left."

The night air was cool and fresh. Liz had walked the perimeter and found herself a nice spot where she could see the road and yard. She looked into the blackened sky and saw how the stars twinkled like diamonds. How peaceful and quiet it was. Liz remembered back in Vietnam how many times she had looked into the night sky. The most she had seen was haze and smoke. With the exception of a few stars here and there. But HERE she could see every star. Her memories were interrupted by soft footsteps coming towards her. Once the shadow got near, she jumped out and tackled the intruder.

"Argh... Liz.. Liz...It's me Face."

"Jesus Temp! Don't do that. What the hell are you doing out here?"

"I couldn't sleep. So I...uh.... decided to get some fresh air."

"That was the WORST excuse I've ever heard. I do believe my dear Templeton, you are slipping in your old age." She teased.

"Slipping? Old age?"

"I know you better than that. Now why are you REALLY out here?"

"Alright." He sighed. I was worried about you. And well, Hannibal told me to check on you, if I just happened to wake up in the middle of the night."

"Oh he did...did he?"

"Sunnie don't be mad. He's worried about you too. We ALL are. Especially Murdock. He tossed and turned for an hour. But he's always been like that. You remember what he was like in the jungle."

"Yeah I know."

"Uh... Liz.. Could you get off me now?"

"Oh.. Sorry Face." She giggled

"Oh no! It's perfectly all right. Trust me."

"Temp can I ask ya somethin'?

"Sure."

"Are we gonna tell the guys what happened...well you know..."

"When the time comes, then we will tell them."

"The guys aren't dumb Face. They KNOW somethin' is goin' on."

"I know. I'm just afraid how Murdock is going to take it."

"He'll be ok. I'm sure of it. Things went on in that camp, Face, which no one could stop. And besides it's not our fault. Those bastards were sick."

"But Liz, I...."

"Shhhhh...No you didn't. But enough already about the camp. I think there's somethin' else we should talk about."

"Like what." He gulped.

"See that black 4 door sedan sitting in the shadows."

"Yes."

"Well it's been sittin' there for a while. It pulled up about an hour ago, without it's light on. No one got out."

"You still have that 9mm on you?'

"Yep, why?"

"Ok! Give me the rifle. You go back to the house and get the others."

"No way Tempy. I'm not leavin' you."

"Do what I say lieutenant. That's an order."

She started for the house and mumbled. "Oh sure pull rank on me."

Face chuckled.

When Liz got up the stairs, she nearly collided with Hannibal.

"What's the matter lieutenant?"

"There's a black sedan sitting about 100 yards away from the house. They pulled up about an hour ago. But no one got out of the car."

They started to hear gunfire.

"Oh God Colonel! Face is out there."

"Go get Murdock and BA." He said as he ran down the stairs.

She darted into the room her and Murdock shared and jumped on the bed.

"Murdock...Murdock.... You gotta get up baby."

"No mama..just a few more minutes." He said sleepily.

"MURDOCK! Face is in trouble. WAKE UP!"

His eyes opened wide. He quickly got out of bed and put his tee shirt and shoes on.

'Becareful H.M."

He grabbed her face and kissed her. He checked his rifle as he sped out of the room.

"DAMN! BA."

She nearly ran into him at her door.

"BA! The guys are in trouble."

"I know. I heard gunfire."

They were halfway down the stairs, when Liz heard Maggie call her name.

"Elizabeth! What on Earth is going on?"

"Maggie go into you room, lock the door and wait until Hannibal or one of us comes to get you!"

"What?"

"JUST DO IT MAGGIE!"

She bolted down the steps and grabbed the automatic rifle and extra clips from the closet. Liz threw open the door and saw the guys run into different directions. She gave them cover fire to get to safety. When she stopped firing, someone grabbed her from behind, and put their hand over her mouth.

"Shhhh...Lizzy.It's Murdock. Come on."

He took hold of her hand and started running toward the edge of the woods. They could still hear the slight sound of gunfire as they ran. Murdock had not let go of Elizabeth's hand, not even for a second. They ran deeper and deeper into the woods as fast as they could. After what seemed like hours of running, Murdock pulled her down into some over grown brush.

"Murdock..what the...hell...was that... all about?" She asked breathlessly."

"The Colonel.... Told me to get...you away."

"Why?"

"Those goons wanted you dead Lizzy."

"How do ya know? For we all know, they could've been after you guys."

"NO!" I heard one of them yell to find you, and bring you back dead or alive. Which normally means...dead."

"Oh god H.M? WHY are they after me?"

'I dunno why don't ya tell me."

"I dunno why they're after me! I didn't do anything to piss anyone off lately."

"S'ok baby, s'ok. I believe you."

Murdock saw her shiver and took off his jacket to drape over her.

"Thanks! I was getting frosty.'

"Come on babe we have to keep movin'.

"What? Why?"

"We can't chance those cheese balls followin' us."

"Ohhhhhhhh..."Liz groaned.

"Let's go!"

"Now slimeball I want you to tell me what you want with Lt. Monroe."

"I'm not telling you shit."

"BA!"

He grabbed the man's collar and started shaking him. "You hard of hearin' sucka?"

"We're on a payroll to do hits. And Lt. Monroe was one of them."

"I have a feeling that's not the whole story."

The man gulped. "Our boss has a lot of hate towards Monroe. But he had found out some information about her being at some place and knowing about some mission with The A-Team."

"So you know who we are?"

"Yeah I know who you are Smith."

"That still doesn't explain what you want with Monroe."

"Hey I just take orders from the boss."

"Wait you said something about information about a mission."

"Yeah some bank robbery or something like that."

Hannibal had tried not to get excited. He had forgotten she had been there the night Morrison gave him the orders. "She COULD clear us." He thought.

Just then the sound or gunfire erupted once again and pierced the night air. The man struggled and got away from BA. The team returned fire, but it was too late. The men dashed back to the black sedan and sped off. Face tried to take out the tires, but the car was out of range. He came running up to Hannibal and BA.

"You guys alright?"

"Yeah." They said together.

"Hannibal. WHAT is going on?"

"I don't know Face. But it's got to do with Liz. Just before the last round of gunfire, I got one of the sleazeballs to talk."

"We'll what did he say?"

"The sucka said Liz was at H.Q. when Morrison handed us orders for the bank job."

"BA! He's RIGHT!!! DO you know what this means? We could be free men."

"Face I thought about that too. But we have to play this by ear, and NOT get our hopes up. It's her word over the military's. AND...that goon said his boss had a hatred for Liz."

"Hannibal. That's insane."

"Speaking of Murdock. Where is he?"

"He's ok man. I saw him and Liz run into the woods."

"Good then they're safe for now. Oh no..MAGGIE."

"It's ok Colonel. Liz told her to stay in her room until we go get 'er."

"OK BA. Come on guys. Let's get in the house. Hank should be here any minute."

"Uh.. Hannibal what about Murdock and Liz?"

"Don't worry so much lieutenant. They'll be fine."

"I hope you're right." He sighed.

Murdock and Liz had run deep into the woods. Running into tree branches and briar bushes. She could feel the blood trickle down her face. "Must be from running face first into thorns." She thought.

"Lizzy, look a cabin."

He motioned for her to stop as he went over to check out the perimeter.

"Hey! It's Maggie's."

"How do ya know?"

He pointed to a metal plate attached to the door that read: Maggie Sullivan.

"Oh." She said feeling silly.

Murdock drew his rifle up and pushed the door open. He was relieved to see there was nothing disturbed, and no one had been there from the way the inside looked. The only form of light they had was the ray of the moon.

"Well Muchacha, this ain't the Ritz, but it'll do."

"I think it's great. I wonder if Maggie knows its back here?"

"I dunno, but by the looks of it, no one's been back here in years."

"Yeah but everything is covered to be protected from dust. SO...It won't be that bad.

Liz bumped into Murdock and turned around. She looked up and gazed into his soft, chocolate eyes.

"Lizzy, you're bleedin'."

He stepped away from her and rummaged through some drawers. He found some antiseptic and clean towels.

"Good ole Maggie. Always prepared. Come here baby, lemme clean the scratches on your face. Have a seat and Doc Murdock with patch you up good as new. And if you're a good girl, you'll get a surprise."

"Oh....I LOVE surprises." She said flatly.

Before Liz sat on the chair Murdock had pulled out for her, she took off his bomber jacket and handed it to him. When he reached for the jacket. His hand touched hers. He flashed her a smile that melted her. She smiled back and sat down.

"Man, this stuff is gonna sting."

"Yeah but you're tough you can stand it. I KNOW you can. You've had worse cuts and scrapes than this."

"But at least THIS one won't leave a scar."

He knew all too well what she was talking about. Not only her battles with Gale and Dan, but in the POW camp. Each of them had similar marks. Mostly faded, but to them they were there plain as day. He drenched the towel in antiseptic and cleaned the cuts on Elizabeth's face. She flinched, but made no sound.

"Still trying to be the invincible Lt. Monroe huh?"

"Invincible no, showing no pain, yes. Being in 'Nam kinda teaches you the No pain, No Gain theory."

"Baby, you don't have to be tough in front of me,"

"Maybe not in front of you, but I have to for the others. Especially Hannibal."

"That's not true. We've all seen you at you're worst. You don't have to be anythin' but Elizabeth Monroe."

She got up and went over to the window.

"H.M. do you know how long it's been since someone's pulled rank on me?"

"No but I could guess."

"No one has called me lieutenant since I left that stupid country. Then I meet up with y'all and it seems as if I never left."

"Liz, you know how Hannibal is. You should be used to it by now. Besides, you know you're in good with the ole Colonel."

"Yeah and how's that?"

He walked over and put his arms around her waist. "He calls you by your first name doesn't he?"

"Oh... well yeah."

She leaned against his warm body, taking in the moment. "It's beautiful isn't it?"

"What is?"

"The moon and how it's rays are so bright, it makes the woods looked enchanted."

"Lizzy..." he said softly. "That isn't ALL that beautiful."

She blushed. "Come on Murdock I..."

"When you left 'Nam, I always had a mental picture of you with me. Especially when I was admitted to VA. But NOTHING compares to the real thing. And to actually being able to touch and hold you again."

"H.M. I dunno what to say."

"Don't say anything."

He turned her around and looked into her ice blues eyes. She reached a hand to his face as he bent down to kiss her. He could feel the growing desire for as he deepened the kiss.

"Murdock!" She said as she broke away. We better get some sleep." She moved away from him and went over to the bed in the far corner of the cabin. Liz took off the dust cover and laid it on the floor. Murdock put his head down and jammed his hands into his pockets dejected like.

"H.M why don't ya come over and try to catch a few Z's."

"Nah, I think I better take watch in case we have company."

"Honey, do you actually think they would've followed us this deep into the woods. Hannibal and the guys probably got ahold of them."

He chuckled. "You're right. I can see the big guy bashing some sense into those goons."

"I actually feel sorry for those guys if they did. I feel bad for ANYONE who comes in contact with BA." Liz said as she took her shoes off. She took the holster off containing the 9mm and put it on the stand by the bed. "Come on Murdock. Let's get some sleep."

"In a minute babe. I wanna make sure the rifle is ready in case we have to use it."

"Hmmm...Men and their guns." She said as she laughed.

Murdock felt a few light movements beside him. He heard Liz softly whimper.

"No.. Please...anything..." She sat straight up and grabbed for the pilot."

"Lizzy! Hey I'm right here. He said as he sat up.

"It was happening again."

"But it wasn't as bad. You didn't thrash around in your sleep."

He saw the frightened look on her face.

"DAMN IT!"

"Don't worry about it. I'm here. I'm not gonna leave ya."

"I know, I know. I just get.... paranoid."

"I get paranoid too.  Like when I have a nightmare or the guys drop me back at the VA."

"OK then. We'll stick together so we don't feel paranoid. We'll look out for each other."

"I started that 10 years ago."

She blushed and kissed his cheek. Her eyes met his once again. He couldn't refrain from kissing her. His tongue explored her mouth as she kissed him back. His hands skillfully moved over her body caressing every curve. She moaned as he started kissing the nape of her neck. With every kiss and every suckle a tingling feeling crept up her back. The pilot laid her back and kissed her hard. She could feel his manhood growing in desire as they declothed themselves.

"Lizzy, if you want me to stop.....tell me."

"Nothin' in this world would make me stop ya."

She could feel the warmth of his naked body close to hers. He cupped her breast and tantalized her nipple with the tip of his tongue. A soft moan of pleasure escaped her lips. His fingers traced the inviting, well ready area of her body as he probed the soft moist flesh. Liz breathed hard and erratic. The tingling sensation became greater from head to toe.

"Murdock...make love to me." She whispered. Liz gasped as he went insider her. She moved along with his slow and gentle movements. Her fingers running through his hair. Nibbling on his ear. His movements became faster as she answered rhythmically to him. Every movement became faster and harder. Both of them almost to their climaxes. Liz yelped as he thrust harder. He could hear his soft whimpers in the back of his throat. Deeper and deeper his manhood thrust insider her. Making them climax at the same time. They lay breathing against each other. Murdock ran his hand through her soft golden hair and kissed her. He gently removed himself from her and lay beside her. He could feel the soft jolts of her body as she sobbed.

"Liz, you ok? Did I hurt you?"

"No no. Not at all." She sniffed.

"What's the matter?"

"I'd forgotten what you felt like."

He pulled her close to him. 'Lizzy, it's all right. Time does that to a person."

"H.M. what if you decide ya don't love me anymore, and you regret this night?"

"You listen to me lieutenant. I'm not Face. I made love to you because I LOVE you, and nothin' else."

"Huh? What do you mean you're not Face."

"Elizabeth, you know how much a womanizer he is. Hell he's probably taken more woman to bed than I have boxer shorts."

She giggled. "This started off as a bad night and ended up like a fairy tale."

Murdock turned on his side and propped his head on his elbow. The moonlight shone off her face. It made her eyes sparkle in the dark.

"You look so beautiful."

"Do you think the guys are worried about us?

"Yeah probably. But they won't say anything 'cept for BA."

"I can just hear him now. I can't believe you went off with that crazy fool."

Murdock laughed. " You do a good impression of that mean..."

She put fingers against his lips. "Shhhhhh."

He took her hand away and kissed her gently. "We should try and get some sleep baby. We gotta find our way back tomorrow.

"Ok." She rested her head on his shoulder and draped her arm over his chest. "Captain?"

"Yeah Muchacha?"

"I love you."

"I love you too baby. I love you too."

"John those kids should have been back by now."

"I know Doc. If they're not back in an hour, Face and I will go look for them."

"NO!"

"NO BA?"

"Ya not drivin' my van Hannibal. And that's final."

"Ok. Then if they're not back in an hour, YOU and Face will go find them."

"That's betta."

"Speaking of Face, John, where the Sam hell is he?"

"Oh, if I know my lieutenant, he is still sleeping."

"Yeah, little brotha didn't sleep too good. Kept tosin' and turnin'. I think he was havin' a nightmare or somethin'. Kept sayin', "Don't hurt Liz."

"Ya know it's strange. Lt. Monroe and Face seem to have a past together. And I can't seem to figure it out."

"What makes you think that John?"

"She has nightmares and screams Face's name. He has nightmares and mumbles her name."

"Hannibal, they weren't no item. Her and crazy man always been togetha."

"You're right BA. But it has to do with 'Nam. I'm sure of it. Might have something to do with the camp."

They heard someone come down the stairs. "Liz and Murdock back yet?"

"Afternoon lieutenant. NO they didn't come back yet."

"Hannibal! We have to find them. Something could have happened to them." He said with concern.

"Happened to who?"

"LIZ! MURDOCK!" Face ran over to the couple and embraced them. "I was so worried about you two."

"We're fine Facey. Hey Maggaroo, did ya know ya had some type of cabin smack dab in the middle of those woods?"

"Well I'll be. I had forgotten about that place. No one has been there in years."

"Well Lizzy and I hunkered down there last night."

"But we made sure everything was back to the way we found it." Liz said.

"Thanks you two." Maggie was checking the cuts and scratches on Elizabeth's face. "Looks like you got into a fight with some briar bushes."

"Yeah and I lost. But Murdock cleaned them with antiseptic we found in the cabin."

"Well he did a good job. It doesn't look like they are infected."

"Aww Liz. I can't believe you went off with that crazy fool."

Liz and H.M. looked at each other and laughed. BA just growled.

"Come on big guy! Didn't ya miss me at all?"

"NO! It was peaceful until ya walked through that door."

"Liz, WHO were those guys last night?"

I dunno Face I wish I knew."

"Well the scuzball I grabbed talked. He said he knew who we were. And had orders to take you out dead or alive."

"Why?"

"Well, it is kind of confusing. He said something about you knowing about the Hanoi bank job. And that his boss had a personal hate for you. You were there when Morrison handed us those orders."

"Well yeah I was. I walked into the office while he was signin' the papers. And shortly after that, he handed them personally to you Colonel. But I had no idea what the orders consisted of until I heard about the charges brought against you when I came back to the states."

"Do you remember what you were doing there?"

"Yeah. I had to pick up my discharge papers Face. Colonel Morrison told me to come by before I left H.Q. grounds."

"LIZZY! That means you can clear the guys." Murdock said excitedly.

"What's the plan Hannibal?"

"We leave Bad Rock for Washington D.C."

"What about those suckas who ambushed us last night?"

"We'll be ready for them BA. I'm going in with Lt. Monroe to the Pentagon."

"Hannibal. I think I should go through the front door alone.  If somethin' happens to me, then you guys will be.. well...semi free. I mean you'd still be Soldiers of Fortune in the LA underground."

"Colonel, do you think sending Liz into the Pentagon with you is such a good idea?"

"OH NO! Here we go again.!" Liz said.

"It's worth a shot Face."

"Boy Decker's going to love this one."

"Oh cheer up lieutenant."

"Will you guys listen to yourselves? You sound like a bunch of children playing some kind of game."

Hannibal put his arms around Maggie to try and ease her worry. "Doc this might be out ticket to freedom."

"It's true what Hannibal says Maggie. This time his bein' on the jazz might do some justice."

"I don't know BA. You know how John is."

"OK guys let's grab some breakfast and get a move on."

"I have bad feeling about this."

"Ahhhh... the price for freedom."

Liz put her hand on Face's arm. "Tempy everything will be alright."

"Yeah Faceguy. Have a little faith."

Face put his arm around Liz. " For OUR sake, let's hope you're right."

"Are we there yet?" Murdock whined.

"No fool. We ain't there yet."

"Easy big guy. I was just askin' sheesh."

"Colonel, I can't go into the Pentagon, lookin' like someone's poor relation."

"We have that covered lieutenant." Hannibal said taking out a cigar. "Face will you do the honors?"

"Gladly." Templeton reached underneath Hannibal's seat and pulled out a box and handed it to Liz, while he flashed her a handsome smile.

"Go head lil mama. Open it." BA said from the driver's seat.

Liz glowed at the contents in the box. "Where did you guys get this stuff? Is this uniform legit?"

"100% genuine." Face chimed in.

"Uh couple things are missing."

"Oh? What's that lieutenant?" Hannibal said taking a drag off his cigar.

"Shoes and hosiery."

"On the contrary, my dear Elizabeth. I, H.M. Murdock have taken the liberty to get your size 7 shoes and hosiery. Due to the forgetfulness of one Templeton Peck." Murdock had said in his best professor like accent.

'Nice Murdock."

"Now wait a minute! I had to get all of the things to accommodate Liz's visit to the Pentagon. How was I to remember shoes and hosiery!"

"Facey calm down. If you over exercise you're brain, you'll go crazy."

"Shut up fool. There ain't no one crazier than you. 'Cept for you Hannibal, when you on the jazz."

He looked over at BA and flashed a smile.

"Colonel, I need a place to change."

"BA pull over. We can stretch our legs while she's changing."

BA did as his commander ordered. When the guys dispersed from the van, Face stuck his head though the door. "You need any help in there Liz?"

"No Face. Nice try."

"If I'm not mistaken, there is a zipper on the back of the skirt."

"Only you would know that."

"What do you say huh? Want me to zip it for you?"

"No Face. Now get OUT!" Liz hated saying no to Face. Not only did she have strong feelings for Murdock, but also she had a small feeling in the back of her mind for the handsome con man. What girl wouldn't. His heart melting smile, those blue sparkling eyes. He was what all clean-cut American boys should be. Then there is Murdock.  His big brown childlike eyes, a handsome smile that could make anyone blush. She liked Templeton's seductive routine. He could say anything to get the girl. But she liked H.M's playful manor. He was caring and compassionate. She liked the way he made her feel. He put her on a pedestal and treated her with the respect that women deserved.

"DAMN!" Liz said. "I should've let Temp zip me up." She opened up the van door. "Hey could one of you gentleman zip me up?"

Murdock was the first to reach the van, followed by Face. "Uh.. I think this is a one man job, Muchacho."

'Go ahead Murdock. She's YOUR girl." He walked away dejected and went back to join Hannibal and BA. Murdock climbed in and shut the sliding door.

"Hey Lizzy."

"Hey yourself. Now zip me up." Liz got on her knees, turned around and maneuvered her way backwards to Murdock. She could feel his warm breath on the back of her neck. He zipped her up and inched his way backwards until he was against the van door. Still on her knees she turned and faced him. "Thanks Murdock."

"Anytime."

"What's the matter hon. You've look like you just lost your best friend?"

"Lizzy, what's goin' on with you and Facey?"

"What are you talkin' about? Nothin's going on."

"Everytime I turn around, face is a close second. He makes passes at ya, flirts with ya."

"Murdock. Nothin's going' on. You know how he is. You said yourself he's a womanizer. He's gonna makes passes at me and flirt with me. Temp and I well... we sorta have a...bond."

"A bond?"

"Come on H.M." Face and I were thrown together in the camp when we were caught. He was there for me. You know how I was sometimes. Some days I didn't even know my own name. You couldn't very well do that since you were in another tiger cage. 6 months in that hell camp was devastin' for me. Just trust me ok?"

'I do trust you. Ya know I do.....But..."

"BUT, there is nothin' for you to worry bout. Alright?"

"Murdock sighed. "Ok... come 'ere." He grabbed her and held her tight. Both Murdock and Liz jumped at the sound of someone pounding on the door.

"Who is it?"

"Me."

"Me who?"

"I'll show ya me fool, if ya don't open this door."

H.M. gulped as he opened up the door.

"Whatcha doin' in there sucka?"

"If I tell I'd have to kill ya."

"Will you two knock it off."

"But Colonel..."

"Lay off would ya Murdock."

Liz got out of the van to stretched her legs before they restarted their journey.

"Liz." Face said. "Last time I saw you in a uniform was the day you left for the states."

"Yeah. It's been awhile."

"I must say, you STILL know how to wear it."

"FACE!" Liz exclaimed as she blushed.

"OK guys let's go! Mount up!" Hannibal called.

"I'm scared guys."

"Lizzy... scared? Nah...you'll be fine."

"Lieutenant, to make you and I more comfy, were going to wear ear pieces and bugs. Mostly for you. If you get nervous, just give a little cough, and you'll be able to hear them talk to you."

Face put his arm around Liz for some reassurance. "Hannibal are you sure, your disguise is going to work?"

"Face like Murdock says, have a little faith."

"But Colonel, if they find out who you REALLY are you're gonna have little green men all over you."

"Yes Murdock I know. BUT, if I AM found out, I want you try to find a way out lieutenant. Understand?"

"NO Hannibal! We come in together, and go out together. That's the rule."

"Not this time. You WILL find a way out, that's an order lieutenant."

"Yes sir." Liz said quietly.

"Let's move out."

Before Liz shut the van door, Murdock grabbed her face and brushed his lips against hers. He mouthed the words I love you, before Hannibal grabbed her hand and pulled her along. She didn't have time to respond back.

"Don't worry crazy man, they be alright. Hannibal's on the jazz. BA shook his head. "He's on the jazz."

Hannibal and Liz made it past the clearance gate. They were IN. She began to shake. "I have a bad feeling about this." She thought.

"Lieutenant, you ok?"

"Yeah." She lied. Liz didn't want to tell the Colonel she was more scared now than she was in the van. He'd noticed how nervous and shaky she was. He glanced over his shoulder to make sure no eyes were upon them.

"It's going to be alright kid. Relax."

"Hannibal." She whispered. "I won't be responsible for getting you caught. We're getting' outta here. NOW."

"Lieutenant, you listen to me and listen to me good, you ARE going through with this. It was my idea to come with you. It would be my own damn fault if I get caught. So you won't be responsible. Do you understand?"

"Yes sir."

"Good! Now let's go."

"UH- OH!"

"What is it Facey?"

"Liz is having second thoughts. She's afraid she is going to get Hannibal caught. She told him they were out of there."

"Are they comin' out Faceman?"

"No BA. She got the you listen to me good lecture."

"Here Temp gimme the CB talker thingie."

BA rolled his eyes and shook his head. He had enough to worry about without Murdock's jibber jabber.

"Colonel, Liz. If you can here me cough." He heard them cough.

"OK don't say nothin' Lizzy, just listen. I know you're nervous. Take a deep breath and think of you and I the night at the cabin."

"IN the cabin?" What did you do in the cabin?" Face whispered knowing all too well what could have happened that night. Face made a motion with his hand for Murdock to give him the CB.

"Ok babe, I'm handin' it over to Faceman now. Love ya."

"Elizabeth, I know you can do this and I know you're scared. But things will get better.... Or...worse...."

"FACE! BA and Murdock said.

"Uh.....Sorry. When we get back to LA, I am going to take you to the most expensive restaurant in Beverly Hills. To wine and dine you."

"Gotta go guys." Hannibal mumbled.

Liz felt much better with the pep talks Face and Murdock had given her. She looked over at Hannibal and smiled. They walked down a long corridor, which at the end stood 4 MP's. One on the left, one on the right and two at a desk which was against a wall.

"Attention!"

"At ease soldier. The lieutenant and I need to see General Sherman right away."

"What is this pertaining to Colonel.... ah...Browne.....Sir." The MP had to look at Hannibal's nametag.

"THAT is classified soldier."

"Right sir. Let me see if General Sherman is in the middle of anything."

Hannibal looked at Liz and saw her trembling again. "DAMN!" He thought. "Don't lose it NOW Liz."

"Ok Colonel Browne, if you'll follow Corporal Riker, he'll take you to the General's office."

"Thank you son." As he returned the salute and smiled.

"Piece of cake." Hannibal whispered. Only to hear Face, BA and Murdock groan.

"Sir?"

"Oh nothing Corporal. Just clearing my throat."

His 2nd lieutenant glared at him as he grinned back. The MP knocked on the door, and let Hannibal and Elizabeth in. They saluted the General.

"At ease. What brings you by Colonel Browne? Corporal Snyder said it was classified."

"This is Lieutenant Elizabeth Monroe. She has some information that MIGHT be useful to you and the US Army."

"What kind of information?"

"Permission to speak Sir?"

"By all means Lt. Monroe."

"Thank you Sir. I was stationed with a Special Forces unit in Vietnam, commanded by Lt. Colonel John 'Hannibal' Smith."

"Of the A-Team?"

"Yes sir. Colonel Smith as well as Lt. Templeton Peck and Sgt. Bosco 'BA' Baracus were accused of a crime I KNOW they didn't commit."

"How can you be so sure? They intentionally robbed the Bank of Hanoi."

"Yes Sir supposedly. They did it under orders from Colonel Samuel Morrison."

"And just how do you know that Lt. Monroe?"

"It's like this General Sherman. The night before the bank job was to take place, I had found out I been taken off the mission and discharged. I went to Colonel Morrison's office to pick up my discharge papers. Sir, I was IN the office at the time when Colonel Morrison signed those papers and handed them personally to Colonel Smith."

"So what do you have to do with this lieutenant?"

"General Sherman," Colonel Browne/Hannibal said. "Lt. Monroe came to me because someone had made an attempt on her life. Not to mention she supposedly 'died' on her return to the states from Vietnam. And She thinks it might have something to do with her knowledge of the information Sir."

"Lt. How did you know of this."

"I.. ah...I had spoken to Colonel John Lynch."

"Lynch...Lynch.... ah yes.... He was shot and killed in LA. A lead on the A-Team or something to that effect."

"Yes sir I know. I was there when it happened. Not only did they kill Colonel Lynch; they made an attempt on my life as well. But the A-Team had absolutely nothing to do with his murder."

"And you left him to die lieutenant?"

"No sir. Before he died, he told me my life was in danger. And the reason for the plane crash story was made in order to protect me."

"From the report I read, Colonel Lynch's body was found by Colonel Roderick Decker."

"I wouldn't know sir. I didn't stay long enough to confront him. That's why I came to Colonel Browne."

"Colonel Browne, what do you think of all this?"

"I believe she is telling the truth general. I had a background check on her and she had an impressive repertoire. She was highly commended."

"Lt., have you been in contact with ANY members of the A-Team recently?"

"No Sir. I have tried to locate them, but had no luck. Last thing I heard they had escaped from Fort Bragg. But again sir, I have had no contact with them for 10 years." She lied.

"Lt. Monroe, do you have any actual proof the A-Team is innocent of all charges?"

"I AM the proof General. I can clear their names."

"I'm sorry. I just don't think that is enough to clear them."

"With all due respect General Sherman, I was THERE when Morrison signed those papers and gave them to Colonel Smith." Liz said as she raised her voice.

"You were also there the night Colonel Lynch was murdered. Did you pull the trigger Lt. Monroe?"

"WHAT? NO!" She yelled. I came here to shed light on a 10 year supposed war crime, to clear my unit Sir. Not for you to accuse me of Colonel Lynch's death."

"I'm sorry Lt. Monroe. I'm afraid your information to clear the A-Team has been rehearsed. So therefore, I am deeming what you told me irrelevant."

Hannibal could feel his face flush. He knew the kid was telling the truth.

"IRRELEVENT? Liz screamed. "I don't believe this."

"But what I am holding relevant is, you are the key suspect for killing Colonel Lynch. I'm sorry Lt. Monroe, but I am going to have to take you into custody."

"General, did you hear anything the young lady said?"

"Yes Colonel Browne, I did. And I'm sorry. There is just no actual proof to clear the A-Team."

"General Sherman, what is she is telling the truth?"

"What truth Colonel, you of all people should know the A-Team is an embarrassment to this country. I'm sorry she wasted your time with this farce of an attempt to clear those traitor's names."

"General please, don't you think you should at investigate..."

"Oh there will be an investigation alright Colonel. For the murder of Colonel John Lynch."

"I didn't KILL anyone. If I did, I sure as hell wouldn't have come to the Pentagon of all places."

"Sergeant Mathers." Sherman called.

"Yes sir?"

"Lt. Monroe is being taken into custody by the US Army. Make sure she is restrained. She was once part of the infamous A-Team."

"Yes sir." Sergeant Mathers handcuffed Liz. She looked at Hannibal with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry Colonel."

"So am I kid. So am I."

And with that, she was taken out of the room.

"You're making a big mistake General." Hannibal turned on his heels and hurried out of the office.

"HANNIBAL! What the hell happened in there?" Face demanded.

"They didn't believe a word she said."

"She didn't KILL Lynch."

"I know Murdock. What I can't figure out is, why he was so quick to judge her information being irrelevant. And so eager to NAIL her for Lynch's murder."

"Terrific! We get accused for robbing the bank under orders and Liz gets pinned for Lynch's murder. This just keeps getting better and better. See Hannibal, I told you I had a bad feeling about this."

"Yeah you had a bad feeling. Do you feel better NOW?" The Colonel snapped.

"What's the plan Colonel?" Murdock asked emotionally.

"We're gonna have to spring her out of there Capt'n. See they're going to assume she hasn't contacted us or seen us since 'Nam."

"Come on Hannibal. You really think they.... think that?"

"You see Face, they won't be ready for us. They wouldn't THINK of looking right under their noses. So, we sneak attack them, and snatch the egg  out of the nest."

"Ah."

"Piece a cake...huh Hannibal?" BA growled.

Liz sat in the tiny cell, which had nothing more but a bed, toilet and mirror. She couldn't believe General Sherman was so quick to judge not only her info about clearing the team, but for murdering Lynch.

"My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty...Liberty my ass.... How bout My country tis of thee.... Sweet land of MISERY.  Yeah that's it. Or how bout, When Lizzy comes marching home again hurrah, hurrah. Instead of When Johnny." She giggled as she sang the silly parodies she was making up. "Murdock would LOVE those." She thought.

"Something funny Monroe?"

Liz looked up and saw Decker standing at the bars of the cell. "Well, if it isn't Rod the Bod Decker. I knew it would only be a matter of time before you showed your ugly mug around here."

"Very funny Monroe."

"Yeah. I thought so."

"I knew it was only a matter of time before you would contact the A-Team."

"Well for your information... I didn't. See Decker, the problem with you is...you always assume."

"Then why after all this time are you trying to clear Smith, Peck and Baracus?"

She rolled her eyes. "Because I was THERE when Morrison handed those orders to Hann...er...Colonel Smith. But don't you worry bout nothin' Rod the Bod, my knowledge of what happened that night is irrelevant. Which should make your sorry ass happy."

"Lieutenant, you WILL address me as Colonel Decker, and you WILL help me capture the A-Team."

"Or what Decker...oh excuse me... COLONEL Decker. Throw me behind bars in the brig? Well guess what? News flash, they already DID."

"No. The charges brought against you for murdering Colonel Lynch will be dropped."

"Sorry Colonel. No can do. Looks like I'll have to sit here and rot. Won't be a very pleasant smell but...hey, the US Army likes to blame crimes on innocent people."

"Lieutenant, do you realize you could be a national heroine for bringing down the A-Team? As well as collect a nice sized reward. You might even move up a rank or two. Who knows. The possibilities could be endless."

Liz got off the bed and walked over to stand in front of Decker. She wanted to slug him for assuming she would help capture her team, but the bars refrained her from doing so. "Let me tell you somethin' Decker." She seethed. "I will NEVER help you catch my friends. I'd rather go before a firin' squad than help YOU or the US Army."

"Well I figured as much. You're just like the others. Only loyal to yourself and the team."

"For once Decker, I actually agree with ya. I will ALWAYS be loyal to the team."

"You could be free Monroe. Free of all charges for the murder of Lynch."

"FORGET it Decker." She went over to the bed and lay down with her back turned to Decker. He sighed and left. She couldn't help the tears coming from her eyes. Everything went wrong. Her statement to clear the guys and being accused of a murder she didn't commit. She longed to hear the voices of her team. But the earpiece was no good. They had stripped her of her uniform and put her in greens.

"Hannibal." She whispered. I hope you have a plan. She buried her head in the poor excuse of a pillow and cried herself to sleep.

"General Sherman, Colonel Browne."

"Yes Colonel. How are you?"

"Fine thanks. Any further developments with Lt. Monroe?"

"No. We sent Colonel Roderick Decker to see her."

"And?"

"She's sticking to her guns. She STILL claims she didn't kill Lynch. And will not take part in capturing the A-Team."

"I see. And where are they holding her.? I would like to ask her a couple of questions of my own. Maybe I can get useful information."

"THAT would be great. She's being held at Fort Meyer.

"Thank you much general."

"Well?" Face asked.

"She's being held at Fort Meyer. But we may have a slight problem."

"A problem Colonel?"

"Yeah Murdock and an annoying one at that. Decker."

"DECKER?" BA, Face and Murdock said in unison.

"Seems like he tried the old help-me-capture-The A-Team speech."

"Hannibal this gets more confusing by the minute. I mean ah.... Who does this concern more of.... Liz or us?"

"I don't know Face. Maybe Lynch knew more than he should have."

"It's a possibility Colonel. But as far as the army is concerned, we're guilty as hell."

"All Lizzy tried to do was clear you guys, and she gets sent up the river. I can't make out why they were so quick to incarcerate her. It's all fuzzy like."

"That's just you're brain fool."

Murdock stuck his tongue out at BA and got behind Face. The Colonel just rolled his eyes and lit his cigar.

"First thing we're gonna do is go to Fort Meyer and spring Liz."

"I wanna go along Hannibal."

"Murdock are you crazy?"

"Well yeah Faceman, but only on paper."

BA and face exchanged dumbfounded glances.

"Captain, you sure? If something goes wrong you'll be exposed."

"I'm willin' to take that chance for Lizzy."

"Alright. Face we'll need a couple things. An MP uniform for Murdock and a source of transportation."

"An MP uniform? Hannibal! Do you know how hard that's going to be?"

"You're right lieutenant. You're not as good as you used to be. Must come with old age."

"I'll get on it. Old age.. That's twice I've heard that." He mumbled.

"I knew that would get his fire started." Hannibal said as he took a puff of his cigar.

"We're here to see the prisoner. General Sherman cleared us."

"Yes sir. Here are your passes. Corporal Wilson will escort you."

The young officer saluted and motioned for the corporal to take them to see Liz. Hannibal and Murdock took notice to how much security was posted. The corridors were like a maze. Finally they came to Elizabeth's cell.

"Monroe, you have visitors."

Liz looked up and saw Hannibal and Murdock underneath the disguises. She had to try not to show emotion in fear of them being found out.

"Can you open this soldier?"

He nodded and opened the cell. "If you need ANYTING Colonel, I'm right around the corner."

Murdock watched the young MP round the corner and nodded to Hannibal.

"How are ya kid?"

"OK. Considerin."

"We heard Decker was here."

"Yeah that jackass. He's never gonna learn."

"Lizzy we're gonna get you outta here."

"I dunno how. Decker requested the cavalry. They're guardin' this place like Fort Knox."

"Yeah we noticed."

"Colonel you better have one hell of a plan."

"Simple plan actually. But you know me and my plans, you never know if it's gonna work out the right way."

"Oh that's comforting."

"Isn't though lieutenant?" Hannibal said smiling.

Liz rolled her eyes. She KNEW his plans didn't always work out the way he planned. But somehow, someway, they worked themselves out. Usually.

"Well Liz, are you ready to go?"

"NOW? Are you crazy?"

"No baby, I'm crazy 'member?" Murdock said.

"Well...are you or aren't you?"

"Hell yeah. I was ready 15 minutes ago." She chuckled.

"But how are ya gonna get me outta here? It's too risky."

Hannibal gave Liz and Murdock a mischievous smile, and had that certain fire in his eyes.

"Uh oh. No no no Colonel. We're NOT goin' out the front door. Are we?" Liz whined.

"Babe I would have to say... yup we are."

"Awww no."

"CORPORAL!" Hannibal yelled.

The young officer came to the cell with a quick step. "Yes Sir?"

"Lt. Monroe has agreed to confess to ALL charges brought against her. We are taking her to General Sherman immediately."

"I don't know Sir."

"Son would you like to see justice done for the murder of a fellow officer?"

"Well yes Sir but...."
"No buts about it solider. Handcuff the prisoner."

"Shall I inform the General sir?"

"NO! The General said if there were any new developments on Lt. Monroe's confession, we are to bring her to him at once."

"Yes sir. I'll get you clearance."

The Colonel looked at his captain and 2nd lieutenant and wink. "See. Piece of..."

"Don't say it." Liz and Murdock said."

They knew when the jazz streamed through their commanding officer's body, there was no stopping it. It was almost as if Hannibal were a boiling pot of water on the stove. Bringing the adrenaline to a boiling point.

"Sir you've got clearance. There will be a squad waiting for you. In the mean time Sergeant Kern will escort you out."

When they reached their designation they were shocked to see the squad waiting for them, was under the command of Roderick Decker.

"This is gonna be fun." Thought Hannibal.

"So Monroe, you've decided to help capture the A-Team."

Liz rolled her eyes. Ya know Rod the Bod, I think you are getting intermittent memory loss. I told ya I'm not gonna turn on my unit."

"What the hell is going on here Colonel?"

"We are taking Lieutenant Monroe to General Sherman. She wants to confess to the murder of Colonel Lynch."

"Oh? And by whose orders?"

"The General himself."

Decker shook his head in disappointment.

"If you'll excuse us Colonel.... Ah Decker, we have an appointment with the General."

"Carry on."

Hannibal and Murdock guided the lieutenant to the awaiting car, which was about 90 feet from Decker and his men. Smith turned around and took off his cap and wig and waved. " See ya Rod the Bod." He called.

"SMITH!"

Hannibal jumped in the car and sprayed cover fire to slow them down. " GO MURDOCK!"

As the screeching car sped away, Decker stood in awe. Trying to comprehend he had been tricked by Smith again. He watched the car crash through the security gate. "I DON'T BELIEVE THIS!" Decker yelled.

"FACE! BA!"

"Hannibal, did everything go down smooth?"

"Yeah like a shot of whiskey."

"Colonel, I'm startin' to think you're crazy."

"Come on Liz that wasn't crazy, that as fun."

"Did you see the look on Decker's face?"

"Why do I get the feeling you provoked the good colonel."

"Because he did Faceman. He decided to take off part of his costume and wave to Decker."

"Awww Hannibal..." BA said as he shook his head."

"We've got to get out of here Face. We need someplace quiet and someplace that will get Decker off our trail."

"Don't worry Colonel. I took care of all that while you were on your little excursion. Nice little place in the country. On the outskirts on a small town."

"And just where is this small town Face?"

"Pennsylvania. New Cumberland to be exact. It's about a three or four hours drive from here."

"Let's load up and get out of here."

They pulled up to the house and got out of the van. It was perfect for the five of them.

"Nice Face."

"Did you expect anything less Colonel?" he asked sleepily.

"Place is huge."

"Well BA I wanted us to be comfortable. I thought we could us a little R and R."

"We can do that once we set up some trip wires and other surprises for unwanted guests. Looks like there is a lot of ground to cover."

"Tempy, there's no one around. Just how far is it to the nearest house from here?"

"About a mile or so."

"Oh."

"Ok listen up guys. We'll take our stuff into the house and get settled, then set up the perimeter."

Liz watched Murdock, BA and Hannibal go into the house. She leaned on the van and sighed. Something was wrong with Murdock and she wanted to know what it was.

"Hey!"

"Jeez. Don't sneak up on me like that hon."

"Sorry..... ah....are you....alright?"

"Yeah I'm fine why do ya ask?"

"Oh I don't know, Maybe because the others have gone inside and YOU'RE still out here. OR there is something wrong with Murdock. He didn't talk much on the ride here.

"Face, H.M. asked me what was goin' on between us."

"What did you tell him?"

"Nothin'. I mean.. I wanted to, but I couldn't. He doesn't understand WHY we're so close."

"Liz after we get to the bottom of this, we'll tell him. Together."

She nodded and put her head down.

"Aww.. Come here."

He hugged her as she cried into his shoulder. He wanted to know who was trying to end her life. He felt sorry for her. She had been through so much in Vietnam, and now in the states.

From the second story window, Murdock watched Face and Liz. He put his hands in his pockets and shook his head. "WHAT is goin' on with you two."

"Sir, the girl is gone."

"What? Gone where?"

"Rumor has it Colonel Smith and one of his men broke her out of Fort Meyer."

"DAMN!" I should have known they would go after her."

"Sir, If I may ask, why do you hate this woman so?"

"She took away 3 things away from me that were important to me Carmine. And she will pay dearly."

"We have a lead as to where they have gone."

"Good. THIS time don't screw up. I need her alive. I have some unfinished business with Lieutenant Monroe."

"Understood Sir."

Liz washed the remaining dished left from supper. Her thoughts were of Murdock. He had been too quiet and hardly touched the food on his plate. He was upstairs reading a book while the rest of the guys were checking he perimeter and setting up trip wires. "I should've never come back into their lives. All I've done is caused them trouble." She thought.

"Lizzy babe?"

She was startled by Murdock's voice from behind her. She had dropped a plate, which smashed into little pieces. "H.M...I.... ah.."

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare ya."

"That's ok." She said as she got on here knees to clean up the shards from the broken plate.

"Is there something wrong?"

"Oh.... No...I was...just thinking."

"About?"

"About the trouble I have caused all y'all. If I would have stayed dead..."

"What do you mean stayed dead? Murdock interrupted.

"I shouldn't have come back into your lives. All I've done is caused you trouble."

"Murdock put the last of the broken plate in the waste basket, and helped her up. "Liz! Will you listen to yourself? You're not trouble to any of us. There's just some people who think you are.... trouble to them."

"Murdock, it seems like all I wanna do is cry anymore. It's like I'm a child whose candy was stolen from her. I'm afraid I'm gonna have another emotional break down."

"Don't you worry. We'll find your candy for you." She laughed.

"Now that's what I wanna see. Those pearly whites."

She hugged Murdock and punched him in the arm.

"OW! What was that for?"

"For scaring the hell out of me and making me break one of the plates."

He rubbed the spot where she hit him. "I forgot how hard you hit."

"Sir?"

"What is it Carmine? I'm busy."

"Michael has just informed me he has found the location of Lt. Monroe and the A-Team."

"That's the best God damned news I heard all night. Where are they?"

"A house in the country. New Cumberland, Pennsylvania."

"Round up the men. We move out tomorrow morning. Then we attack them at night. THIS time, Monroe will feel more pain and anguish than she ever has in her life."

Murdock was in a sound, nightmareless sleep, until he heard a gunshot and Liz scream. He ran into her room to find her sobbing with the 9mm Face had given her pointed at him. "Lizzy what the...."

"Don't move, I swear.... I'll blow your Vietnamese head right off."

"Oh God...Lizzy its H.M. Put the gun down honey."

"SHUT UP!"

"Murdock what the hell is going on?" Face said as He came along side him.

Liz fired another shot. " I SAID don't FUCKING move."

"Liz it's Face." He took a step forward."

"Dong Lai! Dong Lai!"

"Murdock what did she say?"

"Stop....Stop!"

"Ah."

"NOOOOOOOOOOO!" Liz screamed. She fell to her knees and dropped the gun. Hannibal and BA came running from their rooms to see what was happening. Murdock and Face slowly moved over to Elizabeth. They didn't want to spook her. They knelt down beside her and put their arms around the shaking lieutenant.

"Cau xem mytai?"

"She said where is Face? Ngay cay."

"Captain, why is she speaking Vietnamese?"

"I dunno Colonel. Maybe she thinks she is back...there."

"Liz?"

"Co.... Colonel?" She looked to Hannibal and BA. And then at Face and Murdock. "OH MY GOD! I'm sorry. I......I...."

"Shhhhh. S'ok Lizzy...S'ok. We're here now."

"Faceman, I'll take watch."

"Thanks BA!" He grabbed Face's weapon and went out of the room. He didn't know what to say or do. The big guy was uncomfortable about situations such as this. He too had ghosts that haunted him from Vietnam. But like Face, Murdock and the Colonel, he learned to control them.

Hannibal walked over to the three huddled on the floor and sat in front of them. "Liz what happened?"  He said in a soft tone.

"I don't remember much of it. I was dreamin' Face and I were bein' interrogated. They hit him, so I grabbed one of their guns. But that's all I remember."

"You nearly took my head off Liz."

"How so Face?"

"With this Muchacha." He pulled the 9mm from his waistband,

"Oh my God Face. I'm sorry." She sniffed.

"I've been slapped, even rejected, but never had a woman shoot at me."

"Hannibal! I dunno what to say."

"Well I say we TRY and get some sleep." He helped Liz up and took hold of her shoulders. "Everything will be alright kid." She hugged the Colonel and watched him walk out of the room.

Liz nervously played with the necklace Face had given her. Tears rolled down from her eyes. She turned to find H.M. and Templeton by her side. Liz hung her head ashamed to look them in their faces.

"It's alright Lizzy. You didn't hurt no one."

"No but I could've."

"Come on Sunshine, you need some sleep."

"Face I won't be able to sleep after this."

"Murdock and I will sleep with you."

She nodded and went over to the bed with Face. Murdock tunred on the closet light and cracked the door. He went over and cuddled up into Elizabeth's side.

The next afternoon Liz and Murdock were playing Asteroids on Atari. Not a word was spoken of the previous night. Liz punched him in the arm.

"HEY!"

"Well you blew up the asteroid I was after."

"Sheesh, I'm gonna start callin' ya Lash out Lizzy."

She giggled. Liz put her joystick down and starting kissing Murdock's neck.

"Lizzy! I just crashed into an asteroid. That was distaction."

"Good." She bent over and kissed his lips. He pulled her up to him and kissed her passionately.

"Uh..."

"Don't worry, the guys'll be gone for a while." He took hold of her hand and led her upstairs to his bedroom, shut the door and locked it. Murdock walked over to her and looked into her ice blue eyes. Liz put her arms around his neck and kissed him. They undressed each other with tangled hands and impatient fingers. She could feel Murdock's warm hands explore her body. He led her to the bed and lay her down. She gasped as she felt him suckle her breast. She could feel his manhood against her stomach. He urged her legs apart as she helped guide him inside her. She gasped in pleasure. The pilot filled her perfectly with desire and passion. Moving slowly and gently. Kissing her hard. His tongue exploring her mouth. Her hips matched his rhythm.  Elizabeth's hands moved over his smooth heated skin. A rising sensation overwhelmed her body as he quickened his pace, getting faster and stronger. Liz moaned as she held Murdock tighter. He was driving into her with building force. For her, everything seemed to stop. Time, the world. Nothing seemed right but the pleasure and desire. Murdock made her feel loved. Their breaths turned to gasps. She moved faster in time with his body. The moment of climax came to a head. An explosion of love and togetherness. They were one. He breathed hard against her face. He eased himself off her and lay beside her.

"I love you Captain H.M. Murdock."

He looked over at her and smiled. " I love you too Lieutenant." He rested his head upon her bosom and were both fast asleep.

Liz had woken up to find it was nearly 11:30pm She had figured her lover had woken up way before her. She got dressed and went downstairs. The four men were sitting at the dining room table playing Uno.

"Evening Lieutenant. Have a nice sleep?"

"Hmmm... Oh yeah.."

Face had looked at her with hurt and dejected eyes. Could he have sensed the events of the afternoon between her and the lanky pilot?

"Good! You can have first watch then.'

"Ok Colonel." She sat down beside BA and Murdock. She felt his hand on her knee and smiled.

"UNO!" Face said.

Liz had gotten a mischievous smile and pointed to a card that BA held in his hand. He giggled. "Draw foe Faceman."

"What? Come on! No fair. And you guys say I cheat."

"All's fair in love and war Facey."

He looked at Murdock as he drew his four cards.

"Well guys, I think we should call it quits and get some rest. We need to go into town and pick up a few things for our weapons. There's a sporting goods store on 5th and Bridge streets called Shelley's. Their ammo was reasonable."

They put their cards in the holding tray and got up from the table. Murdock went behind BA and tickled his sides.

"Hey ya crazy fool!"

"What's the matter big guy? Ticklish?

"I'm gonna tickle your face with my fist if ya do that again."

"Now boys fight nice."

She heard BA growl as he went up the steps.

"You sure you're gonna be alright with first watch Lieutenant?"

"Yeah Hannibal. I'll be fine."

He put a hand on her shoulder and followed BA

"I'll be upstairs if ya need anythin' Lizzy babe." He kissed her and repeated the gesture.

Face stood with his hands on his hips and sighed.

"You ok Temp?"

"Yeah never better."

"You sure you don't have a sister or a cousin?"

"Well if I do, you'll be the first to know."

"Ah."

"Now go get some sleep pretty boy."

He walked over to her and gazed into her eyes. "Good night Sunnie." He brushed his lips against hers and double-timed it up the stairs.

She touched her lips and sighed. "Night Templeton."

"OK listen up. Smith and his men probably have the place booby-trapped. So watch where you step and be on guard. Be quick and quiet. I want the girl alive. Understood?"

"Yes sir."

"Good! Move out."

Liz had reached the front of the house after walking the perimeter and checking the trip wires. "All is quiet." She thought. Liz was thinking about the love her and Murdock made earlier. But the thought had been replaced by the touching of her and Templeton's lips. She had a love for the con man. But it wasn't like the love she had for the pilot. She loved him more than anything in this world. Just a small distraction. Face. She wasn't sure how to comprehend him. He was a temptation. A test. Liz snapped her head up as she heard someone sneeze. She held the rifle up high.

"Whoa! It's me."

"Murdock! What are ya doin' up? You don't relieve me for another couple hours."

"I know I couldn't sleep. Had a nightymare."

"Oh. Wanna tell me about it?"

"Nah... nothin' to tell. Lizzy, did you hear that?

"Ummm..... Hear what?

"Somethin's not right."

Two men crept up and jumped Liz and Murdock. The rifle shot three shots into the chilled air.

"MURDOCK!" Liz screamed.

She struggled out of the intruder's grasp and punched him in the jaw, sending him flying to the ground. Liz ran up to jump on the other man, but was hit in the head with a butt of a pistol. The last thing she heard was Murdock scream her name.

When Liz came to, she stared down the barrel of a gun. She was inside the house lying on the sofa. When she looked across the room she saw the guys tied to chairs. A short pudgy man immediately brought her to her feet.

"Sir. She is awake." He called.

The man stepped out of a shadowed corner and stopped in front of her. "Well if it isn't Lieutenant Elizabeth Monroe."

"Yeah, and who the hell are you slimeball?"

"I think she gets that from me." Hannibal said with a smile on his face.

"Shut up Smith." Said the pudgy man.

"I'm surprised that you don't remember me lieutenant."

"Should I?"

"Oh come on Monroe! THINK. Think real hard. You KNOW who I am."

"Hmm... let me think..wait..wait..nope sorry. Can't place your ugly face."

The man punched her in the stomach and Liz fell to her knees.

"YOU BASTARD!" Screamed Face.

"Carmine?"

Carmine slugged Templeton Peck in the face.

"She obviously doesn't know ya. So tell us who ya are?

"Captain Murdock, still in the VA Hospital? I always KNEW you were a mental case."

"You betta untie us sucka."

"Or what sergeant?"

BA put his head down.

"That's what I thought Baracus.

Liz regained her composure and was again brought to her feet by two goons.

"You took three things in my life away that were important to me. And I can never have them back you bitch!"

"What the hell are you talking about? I don't even know you."

"Does the name Dan Thomas ring a bell?"

"I'll be damned." Hannibal said.

Liz felt her body go numb. She couldn't think straight. The tears welled in her eyes but she held them back, showing no fear.

"So lieutenant, I have struck a nerve. GOOD! We will put on a show for your friends in a bit. I must say, you should have been killed the night I killed Lynch."

"Yeah and I took the fall for it."

"No Monroe, you will take the fall in front of your friends."

"If you hurt one hair on her head...I'll..."

"Hurt Captain? That is an understatement."

"So Thomas, what were those three important things you said she took away from you?"

"Lt. Peck! Have holes in the old memory? Well let me refresh it for you. She KILLED my best friends Tommy and Gale and she took my Army career."

"Oh yeah! I almost forgot about that psychotic bitch. But you're not far behind."

Dan backhanded Liz and split her lip. BA attempted to break the rope which binded his hands together. He felt a gun being put to his head and stopped his actions.

"Dan, you have me. Let the others go. You don't have a problem with them."

"Sorry lieutenant. They will watch you suffer in pain as I did. Except you will hurt worse than I."

"You're a dead man Thomas." Murdock said through gritted teeth.

He threw back his head as his maniacal laughter echoed through the house.

"Mr. Thomas, this one's cute." The man said as he licked Face's ear.

"Later Michael, it's time we put on a little show for her teammates."

Hannibal looked at his men with sad eyes. He couldn't come up with a plan because of all the emotions running through his body. Dan ripped Liz's black button down shirt half way, and held a knife to her throat. The pressure of the blade on her skin made a small puncture wound. She felt the blood run down her neck.

"NOOOOOOOO!" Murdock cried. He was punched by Carmine to silence him.

"What to do... what to do..." Dan said as he walked around Liz. When he returned to his position in front of her, she kicked her foot into his groin. He doubled over in pain as she struggled to get loose from the goons.

"Nice shot lieutenant." Hannibal said.

She flashed him a dry smile before Dan gave her an upper cut to the face. Liz whimpered in pain but choked back the tears. "You can beat me to a pulp Thomas. Doesn't bother me none. I spent 6 months in a POW camp and survived all the tortures. This is just child's play."

Again he punched her in the stomach.  As she hunched over, the mad man threw to her to floor and proceeded to kick her in the ribs and lower quadrant. Face grunted in anger as he tried to break free. He stopped when he heard the cocking of a gun.

"Nice try hero." Carmine sneered.

Dan straddled Liz and repeated blows to her face. "This is for what you did to Tommy and Gale." He said breathlessly.

"Murdock." She croaked.

His eyes filled with tears as he saw Liz slip into unconsciousness. When he was through with the beating he picked her up by the collar and threw her on the couch. "Can't have Monroe TOO uncomfy now can we?"

BA was horrified to see a glimpse of her battered and bloody face.

"There's more to come gentleman, just as soon as she comes to."

"What kind of a MAN are you to beat up a woman?" Hannibal seethed.

"A man who wants justice for what Monroe has taken away from me."

"Justice? This isn't justice. This is cowardice."

"You of all people, Colonel, should know about that. You AND your men disgraced this country."

"And you are a disgrace to society."

"Such an idle tongue. You just signed her death sentence Colonel Smith."

"Carmine, Lou... come with me. Michael, I want to know if she even twitches."

"Yes sir"

"Hannibal what are we going to do?"

"Well Face, the Hannibal Smith Suggestion Box has now opened."

"Terrific."

The colonel looked over at his captain, who had a murderous look upon his face. A look he hadn't seen since 'Nam. He knew if Murdock got a hold of Thomas, it would be the death of him.

"Hannibal, I have an idea." Face whispered.

"I'm all ears."

"Uh... I'd rather not say. Embarrassing if you ask me. Boy, I'll tell ya, Liz owes me."

Murdock shot a look at Face, which sent shivers down his spine.

"Ahh.. Michael!"

"What is it Peck?"

"Ya know ah...you're kinda cute. Say, how about you and I go upstairs and get acquainted. "

Michael blushed as he went out to the door to find his commander.

"Faceman... you're not gonna....?"

Templeton shook his head at the big guy. His con man charm had worked on the pudgy goon. Michael came through the door with a grin. He untied Faces legs from the chair. He roughly brought him to his feet and marched him up the stairs.

"Think Face'll be alright Hannibal?" BA asked.

He gave the black man a smile he knew too well.

"Man's tied to a chair...and still gets on the jazz."

"Mur..Murdock..."

"Lizzy are ya ok?"

"I.. I dunno... everythin' hurts."

"I know baby. Everythin' is gonna be alright."

"Don't be so sure Captain Murdock."

"Why don't ya let me loose and I'll SHOW ya  how SURE I am."

"Hmm.. No. I think I will let you sit and watch the next part of the Dan Thomas Show."

"You revere yourself too much Thomas. Coward."

Dan pulled a gun and pointed it at Hannibal. He laughed and shot Murdock in the arm."

"ARGHHH"

"NOOOO H.M."

"Awww... what's the matter lieutenant? Boyfriend get hurt?"

"How bad is it fool?"

"Don't worry big guy! I'll live."

"You never know my dear Captain. Things can happen SO fast."

He took a hold of Liz and threw her to the ground. She could feel her face swell up from the blows she took."

"Looks like your lieutenant could use another lesson."

"If you're gonna kill me, just do it and get it over with Dan. NO MORE GAMES." Liz said trying to sit up.

"That would be too easy Lt. Monroe. I will take my sweet time killing you so your friends can watch."

She looked over to the empty chair that Face occupied. "No." She said in a barely heard voice.

"Lizzy... Face is alright...he's upstairs."

Dan picked up the knife that had been dropped to the floor, when Liz kicked him in the groin. She started to laugh.

"Uh oh Colonel. She's losin' it."

"No Murdock, she's taunting. Liz has a surprise for him." He had seen the look she gave him, letting him read her plan through her eyes.

"What the fuck is so funny Monroe?"

"I know somethin' you DON'T know."

"Enlighten me."

"OK you asked for it."  She swept his legs out from underneath him and saw he crashed to the floor.  Liz tried to get up but her body declined the action. She kicked him in the face and started crawling for BA. If she could get to BA, things would be more even.  He was the strongest and could take a beating without flinching. Punches from these hoods would be nothing more but a big sting to him. Before she could reach the big guy, Dan grabbed her foot and pulled her away.

"Uh oh." She said. He turned her over on her back and slammed her head on the hard wood floor.

"You gonna pay sucka." Yelled BA.

Liz saw things go fuzzy. Then, she smelled IT. The blood and horror of war. Sounds of choppers and gunfire filled her mind. Flashes of Tommy. Gale and the POW camp. She could feel the adrenaline build up within her.

"Uh... Colonel. NOW she's lost it."

Liz screamed and flung Dan off her. She got up and started kicking him and throwing punches.

"I wish I had some popcorn." Hannibal said.

"Awwww... Hannibal."

Lou one of Dan's henchmen grabbed Liz. She screamed at him to let her go.

"I'M GONNA KILL YOU.....YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Liz ranted maniacally. Kicking and struggling to get loose from Lou. But he had her arms restrained around her back.

Slowly, Dan got up and grabbed Liz out of the grasp of Lou. "You are going to wish you hadn't done that lieutenant."

"GO TO HELL!" She spat at him.

With built up force, he pushed her backwards. She fell over the coffee table and slammed into the wall. Things faded to black.

"So ah.. Michael. What's your specialty?" Face asked uneasily.

"Filling pretty boys like you with desire." He said as he caressed the blonde's face.

"Umm...How do you know Dan?"

"We grew up together. I owed him a favor so I started working for him. Pays the bills. I don't agree with what he is doing to that poor girl down there... but hey it's not my problem. It's between the two of them."

"Well that makes two of us then." Face said to get on Michael's good side.

"Enough talk Peck. Let's get serious." He knelt in front of Face and started kissing his crotch area, and unbuttoned his jeans.

"Wait!" Templeton whispered. He felt a wave of nausea hit him as he sucked on Michael's ear lobe. "Why don't you untie me and let me show you how it's done."

He was too aroused to say no to the handsome con man. He untied his hands and stood in front of Face, rubbing his hands down his muscular chest. "Now Peck, let's get down and dirty."

"Sure."

Michael turned around to go to the bed, but never made it. He hit the floor with a thud.

"There. You're down. And I play dirty, sleaze ball." He tied Michael's hands and grabbed his gun. "Hold on Sunnie. I'm coming."

"GET UP MONROE!" Dan shouted. I said GET UP. If you don't, I'll kill you now."

"Go head. Kill me. Kill me and get it over with."

"Stupid bitch." He pulled her up by her hair, and drug her to the center of the living room. He kneed her in the stomach.

She fell to the ground and sobbed.

"Lizzy..."Murdock whispered.

"Colonel, she fallin apart man. How much more can she take?"

"I don't BA. I don't know."

He punched her in her sides as she moaned in pain.  "Monroe all the pain will stop once you die. I want you to experience pain and suffering."

"You're...a...psychotic...bastard." She said breathlessly.

He brought her to her feet and pushed her against the wall, and started banging her head on the wall.

"Colonel..."

Hannibal saw the sadness in his captain's eyes. He could no longer hold the tears back. He prayed Face was having better luck upstairs than they were down there. He was watching his 2nd lieutenant getting beaten beyond all recognition. And there was nothing he could do about it, but watch.

Dan pushed her to the ground and got on top of her. "I do believe this is where we left off before lieutenant." He completely ripped Liz's shirt off her body. She tried to resist his touch but paid for it by a blow to the face. Just then, Face came crashing through the front door and leaped on Dan.

"De..ja...vous." Liz said hoarsely.

It took one blow to the face to knock Dan out. Face went over to his friends and untied them from the chairs. Murdock's feet were asleep, but he didn't care. He stumbled as he rushed over to Liz.

"Murdock...Is it bad to see purple wobblies?"

"In your case...yes." Murdock pulled her onto his lap and held her while he sobbed.

"Great." She said.

"Face, how did you get outside?"

"I climbed down the tree outside Elizabeth's bedroom window."

"And the other men?"

"Taken care of Colonel." Face sighed. " I love it when a plan comes together."

"Nice Face."

"Facey, help me get Lizzy up."

Before they helped her up, Hannibal threw a gun to Murdock.

"Sunnie, can you hold this gun for me while I help you up?"

"Mmmmhmmm."

They got Liz to her feet and balanced her.

"COLONEL! Watch out!" Face pushed Hannibal out of the way as Dan charged for him He started lunging towards Liz. Before he could make contact with her, Murdock and Liz raised their guns and fired. He fell to the floor dead.

"I told ya you'd pay sucka."

Liz fell on to Murdck as she blacked out.

"BA! We need to get Liz and Murdock to the hospital."

"Ill go get the van."

Hannibal, Face and BA waited in the Waiting Room of the Emergency Room of Harrisburg Hospital. Face paced up and down the length of the room, waiting to hear the condition of Liz and Murdock. While BA and Hannibal sat on a bench. He stopped pacing when he saw H.M emerge from the doors of the ER with his shoulder in a sling.

"How are ya Captain?"

"Fine Colonel. Any word on Liz yet?"

"No."

He put his head down and sighed. Feeling a strong hand on his good shoulder, he looked up at BA.

"Don't worry none lil brotha, She gonna be fine."

"Thanks big guy."

"Ah.. Murdock could I talk to you for second?"

"Sure Faceman."

"Guys, me and BA are going to get some coffee, do you want anything?"

The men shook their heads no.

"Alright, see ya in a little while."

"Crocodile." Murdock said.

H.M and Face heard BA say something to Hannibal about Murdock being crazy fool.

"How are you holding up?"

"Ok I guess. I felt helpless Face. I watched Thomas almost beat her to death."

"It's not your fault Murdock. You were tied to a chair. There was nothing you could have done."

"I wanted to kill him with my bare hands ya know. I felt like that in 'Nam when he attacked her in the shower room."

"Just don't blame yourself."

"I can't help it Face. She trusted me."

"And she still does. I don't think she is going to hold you responsible."

"Oh yeah. And how do you know? This is the 2nd time you saved her life from that man Face. I'll never hear the end of it. Templeton Peck saves Lizzy Monroe once again and gets all the glory." He said angrily.

"That's not fair Murdock. What did you want me to do? Let him KILL her?"

"No....No Facey. I'm... I'm sorry. I sound like a jealous jackass."

"It's alright buddy." Face saw the tears well up in his eyes and hugged the pilot tight. The sound of sniffles turned into sobs. He patted and rubbed Murdock's back. As he clung to Face like frighten child.

"Gentleman?"

Face and Murdock broke the embrace and turned to see a man in white lab coat carrying a chart.

"I'm Doctor Steven Simmons." They shook his hand.

"I'm Templeton Peck and this is H.M Murdock. How is she Doctor?"

"Well Mr. Peck, she has three cracked ribs, severe hematomas covering her body. She has a small puncture wound to the neck, which could have been fatal. A couple inches more and whatever the instrument that was used would have hit the corroded artery. And there is something else you should know. She has slipped into a coma."

"What! How?" Murdock said.

"She sustained a cerebral concussion."

"Which is? Face asked.

"It's a transitory and reversible nervous reaction of sudden onset, following physical trauma of prolonged duration and severity. Recovery is usually 94-100%.

"Is there anything we can do to help her?"

"Here are some things I suggest Mr. Murdock. Talk to her. Tell her stories. Rub her face or stroke her hair. Let her know you're there for her. Touching of the hands and legs to stimulate feeling. You could also try smelling stimulation, which can sometimes be important. Also try sound stimulation, such as a radio or television. It is VERY important for you to become involved in the patient recovery process. This might be prolonged and MAY become frustrating at times."

"Can we see her?"

"Yes by all means."

"Thanks Doc."

"I'll accompany you to her room."

"You go ahead Murdock. I'll go get Hannibal and BA. What room is she in?"

"305 east wing."

"Thanks again Dr. Simmons."

Murdock thanked the doctor and walked into Liz's room.  He immediately became nauseous, not only from seeing her hooked up to IV's and machines, but the physical damage that was done. He slowly walked up to the side of the bed and pulled up a chair. He took a hold of hand and caressed it.

"Lizzy. It's H.M. Boy you did it this time. Always getting' into trouble. Aww..Baby, I'm so sorry. He felt the tears sting his eyes and a lump forming in the back of his throat. "Hey you member the time we put ice in Facey's bed in 'Nam? He was so mad. Until he found out you conjured the whole thing up. 'Course he got ya back by throwin' ya down in the mud hole after that rainstorm hit. All of us puttin' mud on each other. Ya know, that's how I got to callin' the big guy a mudsucker. Well it was his fault he opened his mouth. Then he tried to drown me until you and Hannibal rescued me."

Murdock sniffed and wiped his eyes. He saw the other guys slowly walk into the room. When Hannibal reached her bedside, he put his hand on her head.

"Hi Kid, its Hannibal. You better wake up soon. You know how rowdy us boys can be without supervision."

"Yeah 'sides, I need someone to keep crazy man occupied so he don't bug me."

"Elizabeth remember the time when you and Murdock put ice in my bed?"

"Faceguy, I just got done tellin' her that story."

"Oh.... See Liz...great minds think alike."

"Yeah 'cept Murdock crazy and you're not."

The guys spent the rest of the night telling stories and listening to Murdock's crazy accents and antics. When morning came, they decided they could use some rest. Face wanted to stay in case she fluttered her eyes, or made any slight movements. But he knew he needed rest. It was hard for him to see such a beautiful face bruised and split open.

"Face, you need some sleep."

"I know Colonel. I'll be out in a few minutes."

"Alright lieutenant, a few minutes." Hannibal stressed.

He waited for Hannibal to leave the room before speaking.

"Elizabeth, if you can hear me, squeeze my hand. Come on Sunnie. I know you can hear me. I want to see those blue sparkling diamonds you have for eyes. Please honey wake up. I need you.... Here with me." He sighed. "I need to go for awhile. But before I do, I want you to know something." He took a deep breath and ran his free hand through his thick blonde hair. "Liz I know you're with Murdock, but I can't help my feelings for you. I wanted you to know how much I love you. Hell, I haven't felt like this since Leslie. You remember when we went through this speech with our feelings? I have never forgotten it. I replayed it over and over in my mind. But..... ahhh... yes..I can just here you chastising me for being a con man, and it would be hard for you to believe what I say. But it's the truth. I love you Sunnie, More so than I ever have. I know you're involved with Murdock, and I'm glad you are. You're good for him. Yeah he's quite a guy that Murdock.  I just wanted you to know how I felt about you. God, Sunnie I hope you heard every word I said, because this will probably be the only time I profess my REAL love to anyone." He looked over her still body and put his head down. Templeton cleared his throat and sung You Are My Sunshine. He got up from the chair and kissed her lips. "I love you Sunnie." He said choking back the tears. He turned around and left the room.

A week and half later, the guys were in Lizzy's room. Murdock reading a book to Liz and Hannibal, Face and BA watching TV.

"Guys we need to talk." The Colonel motioned for his men to regroup in the corner of the room. " I placed a call to the New Cumberland Police Department and THEY put a call into Washington. The charges against Liz for Lynches murder were dropped. Thomas's goons sang like birds."

"That's great Colonel." Face said.

"What bout Liz's statement to clear us?"

"Well BA, they held her statement irrelevant the first time around. But we'll keep trying. I had gut feeling something like that would happen. The government likes to over look things."

"All I know this, whole thing was confusing. There has to be more to the story Hannibal."

"I know Face. But with Lynch and Dan gone, we might not ever know this whole confusing mess."

"Colonel, even though the murder charges are dropped, she's STILL gonna be on the run. Aidin' and abettin' wanted criminals. Cuz Decker and his little green Decker bugs will jump at the chance of crawlin' all over her."

"Sad, but true Captain."

"She still gonna ride with us?"

"Ya know she will big guy. If ya try to tell her otherwise, she'll give ya the ole puncheroo."

"I'm gonna give YOU the ole puncheroo to you head fool."

"Will threats never cease." Face said.

Liz opened her eyes and heard voices in a distance. Everything was blurry, and she couldn't think straight. She tried speaking but nothing came out. Her vision was adjusting better now, and could see four figures in the corner talking. She tried calling Murdock's name. No sound. Liz was getting frustrated. She wanted to get their attention. "Am I dead?" She thought. "Maybe that's why I have no sound." She took a deep breath and tried speaking again. "Heyyyyyyyyy." Finally sound. Murdock bolted over to the bed.

"How's my Dizzy Lizzy?"

"Water." She said in a whisper.

"Facey get her some water."

Face gave her some water with a cup and  straw, which he held while she sipped it.

"Welcome back Lieutenant. Have a nice sleep?"

She smiled.

"You had us scared lil mama. Glad to see ya awake."

Liz remembered what happened. Everything came crashing back to like a crumbling wall. Her body trembled at the thought of Dan.

"Lieutenant, you alright?"

"D...Dan." She managed to say hoarsely."

"Don't worry Sunnie, you and Murdock took care of him. I'll go get the Doctor to tell him she is a awake

She smiled and closed her eyes.

Face knocked on Liz's bedroom door. "Come in."

"Hey Elizabeth, how are you feeling?"

"So much better." She said as she brushed her hair. "I feel like I could run a marathon. Ya know Temp, you really outdid yourself this time with this new pad. This is better than the other beach house."

"Oh thanks. I figured this house would be more relaxing and more comfortable"

"I love the beach. And the ocean breeze in my face." She sighed.

"Well BA doesn't like it. He waxed the van twice today. And they said I was bad with the Vette."

She giggled. "I'm not so sure if I can enjoy the ocean though, with my ribs still sore."

"Ah."

"Face did you mean what you said to me in the hospital?"

"You..ah.. heard that?"

"Yup, I did and for some unknown reason. I might've been out for the count, but I heard every word."

"Why didn't you say anything when you got out of the hospital?"

"Cuz we didn't have a chance to be alone to talk about it."

"I meant every word."

"I know ya did Temp."

"Do you want to get some sun by the pool?"

"Yeah I desperately need it. I look like Casper the Friendly Ghost. But I don't have a swim suit."

Face lifted his figure and went over to the closet. He pulled out a box and handed it to her. She eagerly opened it and took out a beautiful coral color swimsuit.

"Tempy, it's beautiful. Ya know if ya keep buyin' me presents, you're gonna spoil me."

"I know." He sighed. "But it's fun."

"Thanks."

Liz walked over to Face and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I need to ask ya a question."

"Shoot."

"Do ya think we should tell the guys now? About what happened in the camp?"

"Liz, let's wait. Now would not be a good time."

"We eventually have to tell them."

"I know."

"Hey will you put my necklace on for me?"

"Sure."

He looked into her sparkling eyes and smiled. She handed him the necklace. As their hands touched they paused. Face cleared his throat and proceeded to put the necklace on. Liz could feel his breath on her. It sent a shudder through her body. He stood behind her after he clasped the necklace together. She turned around. Their bodies close almost touching. Templeton moved a stray curl from her face. He couldn't help his temptation. He took her in his arms and kissed her gently. Their lips melted like ice. He could taste her sweet breath.

"Face." She said as she pulled away.

"I know Sunnie. We shouldn't be doing this."

"How can I be madly in love with H.M and kiss his best friend. Damn you Templeton Peck. Why do you have to be so.... so....damn irresistible." She said angrily.

"I'm sorry Elizabeth. I'll ah...let you get ready so we can get some sun." Face turned around and walked quickly out the door.

Liz walked over to the dresser and knocked her make up case to the floor. She leaned on it and sighed.

Liz went over to the wet bar by the poolside and got a soda. She was mad at herself for kissing Face. "How can he sit there, in front of Murdock like nothing happened." She thought.

"Something bothering you lieutenant?"

"Hannibal.... uh...no.. just getting' a soda. Ya want one?"

"Sure." He said puffing on his cigar."

"Colonel, can I ask ya somethin'?

"Sure."

"I can't stop thinking about Madison, the nurse who told me she was in love with two men." She lied. "She said she is madly in love with her husband, but she has a flame for his best friend. How can she solve her problem?"

"That's a tough question to answer Liz. Now if you would have asked me about a strategic military move, then I could help you. But in the romance department...forget it."

"Ok just curious."

"The only thing I can think of, is following what the heart tells ya."

"Thanks....Dad." She said.

"I have an idea lieutenant." Hannibal said with a gleaming in his eyes.

Face and Murdock were standing by the edge of the pool talking about Temp's newly scammed beach house their backs turned to Liz and the Colonel.

"This is a great place Facial One."

"I know." I love the beach and the ocean...and "

"WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAA" Face and Murdock cried.

They didn't hear Hannibal and Liz sneak up from behind, and pushed them in the pool.

"HANNIBAL! LIZZY!"

"Aww no my hair."

The Colonel and Liz were in hysterics. Murdock swam over to the side and reached out his hand.

"Gimme a hand darlin'."

She gave him her hand and he pulled her in. She came up from the water and punched Murdock in the arm.

"Owww.. What was that for?"

"That's for forgetting my ribs are still sore."

"Sorry Lizzy."

"S'ok."

Hannibal grinned with his cigar between his teeth. "I love it when a............"

"Plan comes togetha." Finished BA as his giggled after pushing his commanding officer in the pool.
