An MP’s Lot

An MP’s Lot

by HannibalFan’52

Rating: G
Summary: Imagine, if you will, Lynch, Decker, Fulbright, and Stockwell commiserating together in a bar…
Warnings: None
Note: Tune: ‘A Policeman’s Lot’, from The Pirates of Penzance (with apologies to Gilbert and Sullivan)
Disclaimer: The canon characters are, of course, the product of Stephen J. Cannell’s fertile imagination. I can only hope I’ve done justice to his creation.

1. Lynch:

Oh, instead of getting stuck in rancid water,
(rancid water)
I wish that I were swimming in a lake,
(in a lake)
And instead of going hiking just for pleasure,
(just for pleasure)
I chase a nut-bar Colonel who’s a flake.
(who’s a flake)
And instead of having picnics by the ocean,
(by the ocean)
I’m chasing three escapees on the run,
(on the run)
Oh! it‘s so exasperating, you’ve no notion!
(you’ve no notion)
No, an MP’s lot is not a happy one.
Oh!
Yes, it‘s so exasperating, you’ve no notion!
(you’ve no notion)
No, an MP’s lot is not a happy one.
(happy one)

2. Decker:

Oh, I find that I’m more likely flipping autos
(flipping autos)
Instead of flipping burgers on a grill.
(on a grill)
I believe that Smith and Peck, also Baracus
(‘so Baracus)
Think outwitting me is really quite a thrill.
(quite a thrill)
Now my leisurely vacation’s disappearing,
(disappearing)
And I find myself shipped off to Bangor, Maine,
(Bangor, Maine)
I can’t help but think that Smith is loudly cheering.
(loudly cheering)
Oh, an MP’s lot is often quite a pain.
Oh!
I can’t help but think that Smith is loudly cheering.
(loudly cheering)
Yes, an MP’s lot is often quite a pain.
(quite a pain)

3. Fulbright:

I make sure my men know orders aren’t suggestions,
(aren‘t suggestions)
And unsuspecting troops I terrorize.
(terrorize)
But although my squad’s performance is perfection,
(is perfection)
There are times when I just can’t believe my eyes.
(’lieve my eyes)
On the rare days I go golfing with my caddy,
(with my caddy)
The A-Team still can ruin all my fun,
(all my fun)
Yes, my leisure time they mess up rather badly.
(rather badly)
Oh, a gen’ral’s lot is not a bunch of fun.
Oh!
Yes, my leisure time they mess up rather badly.
(rather badly)
No, a gen’ral’s lot is not a bunch of fun!
(bunch of fun!)

4. Stockwell:

Oh, I really don’t have time for much enjoyment,
(much enjoyment)
When surveillance cameras wind up in the drink.
(in the drink)
And the A-Team guys to whom I give employment
(give employment)
Don’t like to do things my way much, I think.
(much I think)
And my Ables with their business are so ‘tied up’
(are so tied up)
When the guys are barbecuing on the lawn.
(on the lawn)
They distrust me, so I never get invited.
(get invited)
Is it worth this to have them under my thumb?
Oh!
They distrust me, so I never get invited.
(get invited)
Is it worth this to have them under my thumb?
(’der my thumb?)
