"TEQUILA and CHABLIS"
If you really wanna know, she comes here a lot.
She just loves to hear the music and dance.
K-13 is her favorite song,
If you play it, you might have a chance.
Tonight she's only sipping white wine.
She's friendly and fun loving most of the time.
But don't ask her on a straight tequila night.
She'll start thinking about him, then she's ready to fight.
Blames her broken heart on every man in sight.
On a straight tequila night.
Here's a glass of Chablis and some quarters in change.
Maybe you can turn her love life around.
Then she won't need the salt or the lime anymore
To shoot that old memory down.
Just remember her heart's on the mend
If you ever come back to see her again.

BA paused as he saw her enter the room. He didn't have to look at the calendar to know the significance of this particular night. He watched as she made her way through the crowd and took a seat at the bar. He could see the pain and loneliness in her eyes as she asked for a shot of tequila. It wasn't the first time BA had seen her try to drown her sorrows. He also knew it wouldn't be the last.
"It's been six months. Half a year since he left. How could he do it? He didn't even have the guts to tell me himself. He left me waiting. The bastard left his best man to tell me the wedding was off. He left with another woman on our wedding day."
It was a story BA had heard many times. A jilted bride left standing at the altar while the groom ran off with another woman. It was a sad tale, one that pulled at his heartstrings. She was a great person but her heart had been broken. For that reason, on nights like tonight, no man could get near her. For tonight, her only friend would be Jose Cuervo with a little salt and a lime wedge.
Saturday night two weeks later
BA smiled as he watched her playing pool across the room. Her glass of white wine sat half empty on a nearby table. He greeted her date warmly when he asked if he could get change for the jukebox.
BA told him what her favorite song was as he handed over the coins. Perhaps this young man would be the one for her. He hoped one day she could find someone who would love her the way she deserved.
Her love life needed to be resurrected. BA could only hope her laughter tonight was a sign of a new beginning. In time, she wouldn't need the salt and lime to chase down the tequila. If only that could happen sooner, rather than later.
BA smiled as his hand brushed the unopened bottle of Tequila on the bar. Tonight it wasn't needed. He returned it to the shelf behind him and gazed out over the crowd again.
They were slowly dancing to her favorite song. BA watched as she slipped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. Tonight she was happy, tonight she wouldn't need to drown her sorrows.
BA poured himself a glass of Chablis and raised it in salute to the couple entwined in each others arms. He silently wished them happiness and love. He had a good feeling about the man dancing with her.
Before sipping the wine, BA whispered, "Here's to the last of the straight tequila nights."
