Title: Out of Place

Out of Place
by Dana

Ratings: PG
Warnings: Torture and angst.
Summary: The team ends up going to Bellefluer Oregon where things go wrong.
Author's note: If you couldn't tell this is a crossover between A-Team and X-Files. I am once again moving the time line a decade as I did with my fic Weird Relations.
Second author's note: I'm from Oregon, so I can make fun of Oregon. Only Oregonians can do that. Bellefleur is not an actual town so bear with me on this. All I know is it's supposed to be a small coastal town in Northwest Oregon. In my fics, I place it just south of Seaside.
Second Author's note: This starts out in the middle of Requiem. Scully and Mulder are already in Oregon. Continuity for the episode stops when Mulder, Scully, and Richie go looking in the woods.
Spoilers: For X-Files Requiem through the end of season 8. A-Team everything is fair game.
Disclaimer: Chris Carter and 1013 productions own X-Files. Stephen J. Cannell owns A-Team. I claim no one. But I'd sure like to claim Nick Lea;).
EPISODE NOTE: There are a couple of scenes that look a lot like scenes from Requiem I just moved things around added a few characters and changed the ending of the episode.

"We are supposed to find what?" John 'Hannibal' Smith asked in disbelief.

"An alien ship." Hunt Stockwell repeated impatiently. "I have heard on good authority that one crashed in a small coastal town in Oregon."

"An alien ship? There aren't aliens." Frankie said trying to hold back a laugh. Stockwell had gone off the deep end this time.

"But there are. You see them all the time but you'd never know who they are." Stockwell answered.

"Yeah right Stockwell." Face said folding his arms over his chest and sighed. "Is this some kind of game? Aliens and spaceships? Get real Stockwell."

"I'm serious lieutenant. A spaceship collided with a military plane in a coastal town in Oregon. I want you five to find it before
anyone else does. It is very important that you are successful. You will be leaving in the morning." He said gathering up his papers and then walked out the door.

"Hannibal you don't actually believe that do you?" BA asked glancing at Hannibal who wore the same expression of disbelief as the others.

"No. But it sounds like a simple mission. We'll go there and find nothing and come back." Hannibal said lighting a cigar.

"I don't know Hannibal. He sounded pretty serious about it."

The next afternoon the team was driving from Portland Oregon to Bellefluer in a rented car. They saw a sign that said Welcome to Bellefluer. The population was crossed out with spray paint and someone wrote varies. They drove through the town. The main street looked a bit run down. They drove by the one motel in the town. It was only one story. They tried to look inconspicuous as they drove by the sheriff's office.

"Okay now that was just creepy. Someone must have a strange sense of humor." Frankie said pointing at the sign.

Face shivered. He didn't know why but this town scared him. "Who knows Frankie." Face said sitting up straighter hoping no one had seen him shiver. "So now what Hannibal?"

"Stockwell said to look in the woods." Hannibal looked around at the town as he spoke. They saw a sign that said Columbia National Forest. "Looks like people are gathered over there." He pointed. "BA pull over." BA did so. Everyone got out of the van.

"Looks normal to me." BA said as he pulled over. Everyone got out.

Face was watching three people walking through the forest. They didn't seem to notice. "Maybe we should follow them?" He
asked. "They might know something."

"Face you follow them the rest of us will look around." Hannibal said.

Face followed as quietly as he could. The red head turned a different direction then the other two and decided to follow her. He
stopped when he saw her spinning in the air. She fell to the ground. He ran up to her. "Ma'am are you okay?" He asked.

"I think so." She said and then frowned. "Who are you?"

He was about to answer when he saw two others rush over there. He moved out of the way and then walked away. He had to tell Hannibal.

"Who was that?" Mulder asked Richie pointing at Face.

"Don't know. Never seen him before."

"Scully did he?"

"No. He was just seeing if I was all right. I don't know what happened."

They helped her back to her feet.

Meanwhile Face located the others. "There's something about these woods." He looked around the forest and everywhere but at the team.

"What do you mean?" Hannibal asked becoming concerned.

"Some woman was spun in the air right in front of me. We gotta get out of these woods."

Murdock looked at his best friend. He seemed to be scared. More scared then Murdock had ever seen him. "Face are you okay?"

Face tried to compose himself by running a hand through his hair and fought to keep his voice steady. "Yeah I guess. There's something with these woods. I can't explain it."

"You don't think there's a ship do you?" Frankie asked looking around at the trees. They looked normal to him. Trees a bit close
together but other then that he saw nothing scary about it.

"I don't know." Face whispered. He wasn't lying. He really wasn't sure what was going on.

"Face I'll find you other things to do besides looking in the woods. Like research." Hannibal said and quickly changed the subject. "Speaking of which. Why don't you and Frank go to the local library and see if you can find anything that might help us."

"Sure Hannibal." They both walked away. Face didn't say anything while they walked away. He just looked around and was on alert.

Back in the forest the remaining members looked around the forest also trying to figure out what spooked Face so badly. "He seemed real spooked Hannibal." BA said.

"Yeah Hannibal. I've never seen him that afraid." Murdock agreed.

"Let's keep looking but be careful." Hannibal instructed.

Face and Frankie located the library. It was quite small and only one room. There were two computers against the wall next to the windows. There weren't too many people in there. The librarians looked bored. They logged onto a computer. "What exactly are we looking for?" Frankie asked Face as he pulled up a chair.

"Good question. Aliens?"

Frankie grinned and shook his head. "Come on you don't actually believe in them do you?"

"Honestly? No. But there was something in those woods."

"Psst." A voice said from behind them. They looked up and saw someone sitting at a table. He looked to be in his mid 30s and had
short brown hair and brown eyes. "I can help you find the information." He said.

They walked over to him. "Are you from here?" Frankie asked.

"Not exactly but I know some stuff the library doesn't." The mysterious man said. "Where are you from?"

"Virginia." Frankie said. Face was eyeing the man warily. He was asking a lot of questions. Frankie was still green on this kind of
stuff. He knew he had to intervene before it went any further.

The man nodded. "What brings you two all the way over here to Oregon?"

Frankie was about to speak, but Face spoke first. "You certainly have a lot of questions. Who are you?"

The man smirked. "That's really none of your business. You seem to not want my help so I'll go."

Frankie was about to call him back when Face shook his head. "Let him go. He won't help us."

Frankie almost called the man back anyway but saw the look on Face's face. He followed him back to the computer. "So back to this. Exactly what are we looking for?"

"History of the town would be a good place to start."

They spent nearly an hour going over papers until they finally found something. "Here's something. Four students from the class of 89 disappear." Frankie said handing the article over to Face who quickly read it.

"Now that's something helpful." He photocopied the article.

"Excuse me sirs. The library closes in ten minutes." A librarian said. She was medium height with curly red hair and a kind smile.

"Thank you." Frankie said smiling at her.

"Come on Frankie. Flirt later we gotta go." He said and practically dragged him out of the library.

"Hey Face look. There are those two people we saw earlier." Frankie pointed at Mulder and Scully.

Face stopped and watched them. They hadn't seen them yet. Face sighed with relief. "Let's go."

When they got back to the motel they found the others there. "Find anything?" Hannibal asked.

"Yes. An article about four teenagers disappearing and then coming back with marks on their bodies." Face said handing it to him.

Hannibal skimmed it before handing it to Murdock.

"Also ran into a guy that asked us why we were in Oregon. When Face asked who he was he walked away." Frankie reported. .

"What did he look like?" BA asked.

"About my height. Short dark brown hair, brown eyes. Probably in his 30s." Face answered. "Did you guys find anything?"

"Not really. We'll search again tomorrow."

The next morning Face headed back to the library to see if he could find any related articles. He found a few including a couple on the deaths of a couple of the teenagers. He copied those articles and looked at the watch and realized he was going to meet Murdock and Frankie back at the motel in fifteen minutes. He started out when he ran into a police officer. He kept walking hoping the officer had not recognized him.

When he got back to the hotel he noticed Murdock standing outside of the room waiting. "Hey Murdock." He greeted. "Forget your key?" Murdock didn't answer. "Where's Frankie?"

They walked into the motel room. Face turned around and looked at Murdock. He was acting strange. Strange, even for Murdock. Murdock's silence was almost unnerving. The phone rang. Face grabbed it. "Hello."

'Hey Face. Frankie and I won't be able to catch up with you. We are going to interview someone. You can meet us there.'

"Murdock is that you?" Face asked in shock thinking maybe he had heard wrong.

'Yeah it's me.'

Face turned back to face the other person in the room. "Then who..." He stopped and dropped the phone when he noticed the man change shape. He was picked up and thrown against the wall. He slipped to the ground unconscious.

The Alien Bounty Hunter heard the frantic voice on the other side of the line and simply hung up the phone before turning back to Face.

"Face! Face are you there? What's going on? Face!" Murdock was near hysterical. He had heard a loud thump and then silence. His fears grew when he heard someone hang the phone up. He quickly called back and received no answer. He turned to Frankie. "Come on we've got to go back to the motel."

When they got to the motel room they found it empty. Murdock and Frankie looked around frantically for clues. They couldn't find
any. The only thing they found was papers all over the floor. "I wish the rental car had a car phone." Murdock said sitting down on one of the beds with a sigh. "We have no way of reaching Hannibal and BA."

"They are checking out the forest again." Frankie reminded him. He glanced at his watch. "Maybe they'll be back soon."

Murdock's eyes widened as he remembered Face's reactions yesterday. "The forest. Dang it we should have listened to Face
better when he complained about the forest." 'Face forgive us for not listening to you.'

"You don't think aliens took him do you?"

Murdock shook his head and didn't say anything for a few seconds. "I don't know. But Face is missing and it sounded like he was surprised when he heard me on the phone."

"I'll go out and see if anyone saw anything." Frankie volunteered. As he stepped out he noticed the man and woman that he'd seen twice today leave a room a couple of doors down. "Excuse me." He said coming up to them. "Can I ask you a question?"

They looked at each other. "Sure." Mulder said.

"Did you two notice anything strange?"

"Strange how?" Scully asked her forehead furrowing.

"Well a friend of mine is missing. We were talking to him on the phone when the call was cut off. And now he's no longer in the room."

Mulder and Scully exchanged worried looks. "How long ago was this?" Mulder asked while checking his watch.

"Ten minutes ago."

"No we didn't see anything." Scully said casting another look over at her partner. Hoping that this wasn't another abduction.

Just then, Hannibal and BA pulled up in the rental car. "What's going on?" Hannibal asked jumping out of the car. He was surprised to see the two people again. 'This town is just too small.'

"Face is missing." Frankie said.

"What do you mean missing?" BA asked trying to keep the worry out of his voice. He, like Murdock, started to remember the day before and how Face had reacted.

Hannibal took a cigar out and fingered it but didn't light it. To him this was too much of a coincidence.

"He disappeared from the motel room. Murdock was talking to him on the phone and the call was cut off." Frankie answered.

Hannibal again noticed that the two people were still there and finally asked the two unknown people, ""Who are you?"

"I'm Agent Fox Mulder and this is my partner Agent Dana Scully." Mulder said.

"Agents?" Frankie asked nervously. 'The FBI's involved in this?'

"We are investigating the reoccurrence of alien abductions in Oregon." Mulder answered. He could see the looks of disbelief on
the three men's faces.

"What does that have to do with Face?" Hannibal wondered out loud.

"I don't know." Scully said with a frown. She was positive that they weren't from Bellefluer. "Has Face ever been abducted by

"I don't think so Agent Scully." Hannibal answered. "We came looking for an alien ship but we don't actually believe there is one."

Murdock who had been listening at the doorway spoke up. "What about the forest?" He asked Hannibal.

"What do you mean the forest?" Mulder curiously asked. He was trying to figure out the connection. Their old theory about past
abductees may no longer be the case, and he needed answers even if the government wanted these men.

"Face was nervous when he was in the forest. He said there was something wrong with it." Murdock answered.

"Wait a second. Does this Face have blond hair and blue eyes?" Scully asked as she mentally started to put some of the puzzle

"Yeah why?" BA asked.

"He's the one who I met yesterday. Mulder he's the one who helped me after I collapsed in the forest."

Mulder shook his head before gazing at the open door of the motel room. "This is not good. Can we inspect the room?"

"Sure." Hannibal said. Murdock opened the door to allow them into the room.

They looked the room over some more but didn't find anything. Scully picked up a couple of photocopies that were lying on the
floor. "Dejavu again. This was the first case we worked on together." Scully explained to the others.

"We are going to look in the forest some more tonight." Mulder said. "Contact us if he does return." They left the room.

"What are we going to do Hannibal?" Murdock asked. He was getting really worried. He was almost positive that the FBI Agents weren't telling them everything.

Hannibal didn't know.

Later that night Mulder and Scully were investigating the forest with special tools. The forest looked even scarier at night. Owls could be heard hooting in the background. It was a cold night for the middle of spring.

"Look at this Scully." He said indicating the beams. "They are pointing at something." He walked toward it with curiosity. He
didn't turn around to see if Scully was following him because he was suddenly sucked into a force field.

Scully started to follow him but was caught in something that whirled her around as it had the day before. She fell and when she regained her senses, she realized Mulder was no longer around. "Mulder!" She yelled looking around hoping that maybe he was just out of her line of sight. 'Don't do this to me Mulder! Please answer.'

Mulder walked toward a circle of light. He couldn't move backwards because he could only go forward. He saw Billy Miles, Theresa and Ray Hoese, and many other Oregonians. He saw towards the middle was someone he had seen around Bellefleur once or twice but he didn't recognize him. 'Face?' He wondered. He turned and looked as the Alien Bounty Hunter walked closer. He knew he was about to be abducted. He had seen it happen to his sister but for some reason this felt different.

Face stood not far from Mulder trying not to look scared. He had came to in this force field. He had tried to escape but there was a force field that kept them in the circle. He didn't know any of the people there and they all seemed to know what was about to happen. He saw the man he saw a few times in Bellefleur staring at him. Then the man who had taken him stepped up to the other man. He was frightened he whispered the lord's prayer under his breath.

There was a bright light and when it was gone, he was no longer in the forest.
